Sports Review: Tenacious tackling once again from King’s St Alban’s

U11 IAPS Rugby Festival at Ratcliffe College

The boys made the long trip to Ratcliffe College to attend the U11 IAPS rugby festival. They were drawn in a pool against Ratcliffe, Leicester Grammar, Laxton, Witham Hall and Maidwell Hall. They showed tenacious tackling and worked the ball well throughout the day. The games against Leicester Grammar, Witham and Ratcliffe were evenly contested and could have gone either way. We finished the afternoon against Laxton Junior School, the message to the boys was 12 minutes of hard work, big tackles, determination and good decision making. They gave exactly that and finished the day with a brilliant win with tries from Harry x2 and Peter. I want to mention every boy who played in the squad they battled from start to finish and represented the school brilliantly. Well done William D, Rook T, Eddie H, Mortimer D, Jack B, Ralphie D, Barnaby J, Peter U and Harry B.

U8 Rugby Festival at Abberley Hall

This week the U8 boys travelled away for their rugby festival to the beautiful grounds of Abberley Hall School. The boys were full of energy for the four games they played in and continued to develop their teamwork and support play. Albarn showed his excellent ability to pass the ball, and Zach and Alex worked well making tackles when they were defending the try line. Jasper displayed excellent spatial awareness by scoring a try from starting near to his try line and Ben and Henry made some great runs, finding gaps in the oppositions defence line. Well done boys!
