With our Year 6 pupils off on their Sports Tour it has been a rather quiet week in terms of competitive fixtures at King’s Hawford. Our U8 boys have enjoyed another Rugby Festival, this time at Abberley Hall School whilst our U11 girls hockey team have been in action at the RGS The Grange Tournament. In addition to these competitive fixtures all year groups have been making the most of the weather and enjoying some fantastic games lessons.
U9 Rugby Festival at Abberley Hall School:
The U9’s went to a windy Abberley on Tuesday to compete in the school’s Rugby Festival. The boys played some great rugby, running in some incredible tries. All players worked hard to get into space. The press defence that we had been working on made it difficult for opposition to settle on the ball. It was great to see a large contingent of Hawford parents out in support of the boys. A great afternoon of rugby – well done all.
U11 Hockey at RGS The Grange:
On Wednesday, our U11 girls played some excellent hockey in a tournament at RGS The Grange. After five weeks of competitive fixtures and training sessions, the team are putting together some good set pieces, beginning to use the full width of the pitch, and, most importantly, getting in some strong shots on goal.
Next week our U11 girls will take part in the IAPS Hockey at Cheltenham College and we wish them well. On Tuesday we will be hosting the U8 Hawford Rugby Festival. Over the course of the week children from across the Prep School will have a chance to represent the school at hockey or rugby.
