Netball
U8 v RGS The Grange
The U8 girls travelled to RGS The Grange to play in some 4-a-side fixtures against the hosts. Each team, made up of five or six girls played three matches across the afternoon. The afternoon was a fun and engaging experience for the girls and they benefitted from being coached throughout the games.
Miss Lake’s Team
The girls had a wonderful afternoon, developing their skills within a competitive environment. During warm-up the girls focused on passing the ball down the court quickly and they implemented this into their gameplay from the first whistle. The girls worked hard across all three matches and over the course of the afternoon, they settled into the match play and took onboard coaching advice to improve their play. The girls progressed defensively, applying more pressure on the speedy RGS players. Miss Lake awarded Player of the Match to Minnow for her superb speed and making multiple interceptions across the three games.
Mr Hodgkins’ Team
Mr Hodgkins’ team enjoyed a positive fixture, playing with pleasing levels of energy and enthusiasm throughout. The girls worked hard to develop their aim of moving the ball quickly in possession, showing growing confidence and teamwork as the match progressed.
There was clear progress in their decision-making and positioning in defence, with players beginning to anticipate play more effectively and apply pressure on the ball. This led to a number of well-earned turnovers and opportunities to attack. Player of the Match was Fifi, who demonstrated excellent accuracy, consistency and composure when shooting, providing a calm and reliable presence in the shooting circle.
Miss Benvie’s Team
On Miss Benvie’s court, the girls worked incredibly hard throughout all three games and focused well on using space effectively rather than crowding around the ball. They maintained a positive mindset throughout and made excellent progress in transitioning quickly from attack to defence. The team worked collaboratively to regain possession and communicated clearly and consistently with one another.
Miss Benvie’s Player of the Match was awarded to Iona, who made a fantastic effort to consistently mark her player and made several impressive goal-stopping interceptions across all three games. She was also highly encouraging towards her teammates and demonstrated great sportsmanship by supporting and encouraging the RGS The Grange players as well.
U9 v RGS The Grange
Mrs Butt’s team
Mrs Butt’s U9 team brought fantastic energy to The Barn on Tuesday, taking to the indoor court with big smiles and plenty of determination. It was a superb victory led confidently by captain Isla H, who won the First Centre Pass, the girls got off to a flying start and never looked back!
From the very first whistle, King’s Hawford displayed some beautiful, flowing netball. The team linked up brilliantly through all three thirds, demonstrating how far they’ve come this season. Their progress—both individually and as a squad—was clear for all to see as they put into practice everything they’ve been learning in recent matches.
In the attacking third, Lily and Sadie shone brightly, showing real strength and confidence under the post. With numerous goals shared between them, their calm finishing and clever movement kept the scoreboard ticking.
In the centre court, Jessica and Isla worked tirelessly to track their opponents, making several vital interceptions that helped maintain momentum and pressure. Their determination set the tone and ensured King’s Hawford stayed in control.
Bonnie was a real spark throughout the game, covering the court with boundless energy. Her well-timed passes and excellent vision played a big part in the team’s fluid play and contributed significantly to the overall win.
While the shooting accuracy was impressive, Mrs Butt was particularly delighted with the girls’ positive attacking passing and their quick decision making, which kept the pace fast and exciting from start to finish.
A huge well done to Sadie, who was named Player of the Match by the opposition for her fantastic performance. Mrs Butt would also like to give special recognition to Jessica for her focus, commitment, and outstanding work rate.

Mrs Beech’s team
Mrs Beech’s U9 team delivered a fantastic performance against RGS, securing an impressive 12–4 victory in a fast-paced and exciting game.
From the first whistle, the team demonstrated excellent structure and organisation across the court. Their movement was sharp and purposeful, with Bella and Martha working hard to create space and support each other. The ball was transitioned quickly and confidently through the thirds by Alice, Emily and Rosie, showing great awareness and teamwork.
There were some excellent shooting performances, with goals scored by Alice, Emily and our captain Rosie, who led by example throughout the match. Their accuracy and composure in the shooting circle helped maintain steady pressure on the opposition.
Overall, it was a brilliant team performance defined by fast-flowing play, strong court movement and superb teamwork.
Well done to all the players on a well-deserved win, and congratulations to player of the match, Martha L.

Miss Cook’s Team
The team put in a fantastic team performance, showing great teamwork from start to finish.
Everyone shot well, and it was brilliant to see how much the girls improved as the match went on. Syrenna was excellent in defence, making it really tough for the opposition, while Olivia P grew massively in confidence and had a great impact as the game progressed.
Aoife led the team superbly as captain and was deservedly named Player of the Match, with very strong and accurate shooting throughout.
A really positive performance from the whole squad.

Mrs Butt’s Team
The U10 girls travelled away for their fixture against RGS The Grange, stepping onto court with confidence and determination. Led superbly by captain Amelie B, King’s Hawford made an immediate impact by securing and capitalising on the very first centre pass.
From the outset, Eleanor and Amelie worked tirelessly in attack, moving sharply and combining brilliantly to put away several crucial goals in the opening quarter. Their accuracy helped King’s Hawford edge ahead early on—an advantage they impressively maintained throughout the entire match.
In the mid‑court, the intensity was outstanding. Vivienne and Ellie made a string of vital interceptions, reading the game cleverly and disrupting RGS The Grange’s flow. Ellie H showcased her wonderful athleticism, producing tenacious steals and driving strongly through the court.
Keeping the tempo high, Aurelia delivered a standout performance with slick, well-timed passes that linked the thirds seamlessly. Her ability to connect play under pressure ensured the team kept their momentum and attacking rhythm.
The match remained highly competitive from start to finish, with both sides displaying great skill, determination, and sportsmanship. King’s Hawford held their one‑goal advantage right to the final whistle, demonstrating the huge promise this group continues to show.
The game was played with such quality and effort that neither team could choose just one Player of the Match—so they celebrated every single player on the court for their contribution, teamwork, and spirit.
Well done, girls—a fantastic performance all round!
Mrs Halpin’s Team
What a fantastic game from our U10 netball team V RGS The Grange!
The girls showed great teamwork throughout the match, really using the space on the court well and putting into practice the skills we have been working on in training. There were some brilliant goals scored by Tilly, Ffion, Fliss, Elsie and Simi, with some excellent movement and positioning on the court. It was wonderful to see the players confidently applying their passing, footwork and shooting skills during the game.
Elise and Ffion worked incredibly hard for the entire fixture, constantly getting into space, calling for the ball and making some superb interceptions. Their determination and effort made a real difference to the team.
Tilly was chosen as the opposition’s Player of the Match – a well-deserved achievement.
Mrs Halpin’s Player of the Match was awarded to Ffion for her outstanding all-round performance.
Well done to all the girls for a brilliant team performance!
Miss Cook’s Team
The team worked incredibly hard this match and fought all the way through from start to finish. Their effort and determination were great to see, especially as they continued to push themselves in every quarter.
The standout player was Sylvie, who showed excellent interceptions and amazing energy all over the court, earning player of the match.
Ellie M also stood out with her excellent captaincy, constantly encouraging and supporting her teammates throughout the game.
Overall, it was a strong performance with lots to be proud of, while still leaving us some clear areas to focus on in training, especially making two concise and clear movements to get free for the ball.
The girls should be very proud of their effort and teamwork, and it’s exciting to see how much they’re improving each week.
U11 v RGS The Grange
Miss Lake’s Team
Miss Lake’s team faced a determined RGS The Grange side in a fast-paced and competitive fixture this week.
From the first whistle, the game was played at high intensity. After the opening minutes, the King’s Hawford girls settled well and the match quickly became end-to-end. Both teams showed great determination and teamwork throughout.
In defence, Abi and Georgia made valuable contributions, intercepting the ball on numerous occasions and breaking down RGS’s attacking play. Their efforts created important opportunities to transition down the court. Annie and Daisy worked tirelessly in midcourt, demonstrating their developing skill sets and moving the ball swiftly and accurately from the defensive third and into the attacking third. Their strong link play helped maintain momentum and keep pressure on the opposition. Indie and Izzy once again formed a dynamic shooting partnership, while Maysie and Charlotte grew into their defensive positions maintaining close marking to make it challenging for the RGS shooters. With impressive accuracy, they helped secure an early lead and remained composed under pressure.
RGS proved to be excellent opponents and the final scoreline reflected how evenly matched the game had been.
A special congratulations to Daisy, who was awarded Player of the Match by RGS for her calm and enthusiastic performance.
Mrs Beech’s Team
King’s Hawford produced a dominant all-round performance against RGS The Grange delivering an excellent team display to secure a well-deserved victory.
From the first whistle, King’s controlled the pace of the game, showing great confidence and composure across the court. The shooting circle was a real strength, with Jasmine, Charlotte, and Bella combining superbly to convert chances with impressive accuracy and consistency. Their movement and positioning created constant scoring opportunities, keeping the pressure firmly on RGS.
In the centre court, Florrie, Valerie, and Addy worked tirelessly, demonstrating excellent passing, strong interceptions, and intelligent movement. Their ability to transition the ball quickly from defence to attack was key to maintaining King’s Hawford’s momentum throughout the match.
Defensively, Rosie and Zara were outstanding, applying constant pressure, reading the game well, and making crucial interceptions to break down RGS’s attacks.
Overall, it was a superb team performance and an excellent win for King’s Hawford, showcasing great skill, teamwork, and determination.

Girls vs Winterfold
The King’s Hawford girls’ football team enjoyed a positive and encouraging start to the week in their first match against Winterfold on Monday afternoon. Mr Hodgkins was particularly impressed with the effort and commitment shown by the girls throughout the match, with all players receiving equal game time to demonstrate the progress they have made during weekly club sessions.
As the game developed, the team showed an enhanced appreciation of the demands of their individual positions on the pitch and began to understand the dynamics of how each of their teammates likes to play, resulting in improved movement, passing and teamwork. There were many pleasing moments of combined play and growing confidence in both attack and defence.
Mr Hodgkins was especially pleased with Jasmine’s solid and reliable defending, Elise’s excellent footwork and composure in midfield, and Ellie H’s impressive work rate, which was deservedly capped off when she took her goal with real style.
Colts Football v The Elms
On Wednesday afternoon, King’s Hawford Colts took on The Elms in an entertaining set of fixtures played on the artificial astroturf pitches. Both teams adapted impressively to the quicker surface, showing great composure as the ball travelled at pace and demonstrating noticeably improved control and decision making in possession.
Short, sharp passing combinations and intelligent movement off the ball were evident throughout, reflecting how confidently the players adjusted to the different demands of the surface.
Mr Hodgkins’ team, in particular, produced a dominant performance built on strong foundations at the back. Will and Charles were outstanding in their defensive organisation, communicating superbly, holding their shape, and breaking up attacks before they could develop. Behind them, Arthur made a series of smart, well-timed saves that ensured the team maintained control and momentum.
Going forward, there were some superb moments of quality: Joshy showed sharp instincts with an excellent poacher’s finish at the back post after a pinpoint cross from Sam, while Sam himself capped a fine display with a fantastic second-half goal, driving powerfully and determinedly from midfield before finishing confidently.
It was a performance full of resilience, teamwork, and growing maturity on the ball – an excellent afternoon of football for King’s Hawford.
