Minnow was named Player of the Match. Miss Lake was incredibly proud of the whole squad, whose progress over the past eleven weeks has been wonderful to see.

U9 v Winterfold School

The U9 girls travelled to Winterfold School for their final Hockey match of the season and we were blessed with a clear and sunny day and lots of parental support.

Sadie G & Maddie P made some excellent tackles to dispossess the Winterfold attack and Syrenna and Jessica made a superb effort to find space and get the ball up the pitch. Aoife and Martha worked tirelessly to gain and maintain possession of the ball and launch an attack on goal at every opportunity. Overall Mrs Halpin was really pleased with the girls’ collective performance and noted the huge progress they have made since the start of the term. Aoife W was named player of the match by the opposition and very worthy of the nomination.

Mrs Butt’s team produced some increasingly good hockey across the three thirds of the game gaining in confidence and demonstrating progressively harder and faster passing. Isla and Lily had some good breaks and found space to attack, Bonita-May and Bonnie managed to get several opportunities on goal and Tanith and Emily made a number of tackles to defend the Hawford goal. The girls have made excellent progress this term improving each week and learning a lot from all their pitch time. U10 & U11 Warwick Hockey tournament with King’s St Alban’s

U10s

The King’s U10s displayed determination, teamwork, and impressive individual skill across six exciting fixtures at Warwick Prep. Despite challenging weather and strong opposition, the King’s Foundation girls from King’s Hawford and King’s St Alban’s produced some of their best hockey of the season.

Match 1 – King’s 1 : 1 Warwick Prep

King’s started the tournament with intensity, moving the ball confidently through midfield with Vivienne and Ellie H applying early pressure. Strong passing combinations opened up space on the wings, where King’s looked especially dangerous.

Vivienne’s equaliser was a moment of real quality — she received the ball on the right, carried it with speed, and fired a superb shot across the face of the goal into the far corner.

Defensively, King’s worked well to block Warwick’s counterattacks and Savannah along with Eleanor and Amelie made some excellent saves and clearances meaning King’s held firm for the draw.

Match 2 – King’s 2 : 0 Fairfield

King’s dominated from the first whistle, winning turnovers high up the pitch and transitioning quickly into attack. With Eleanor in her new position on the wing and Lilly-Anna teaming up with Vivienne the team was unstoppable.

The girls linked passes beautifully, showing developing confidence and awareness, despite the sheets of rain that were sweeping across the pitch, drenching players and spectators alike. Vivienne scored both goals after excellent build-up play from Eleanor and Ellie H, who combined cleverly on the wings

Their sharp passing created clear shooting opportunities, which Vivienne finished clinically. The defensive line of Maddie and Amelie stayed composed, stepping up to intercept and keeping Fairfield to minimal chances.

Match 3 – King’s 2 : 0 Bablake U10

Against Bablake’s U10s, King’s showcased some of their most structured play of the day as the heavens opened again, turning the game into a real test of perseverance.

Patient passing around the midfield from Sophie and Imogen drew defenders out, allowing King’s to exploit gaps out wide.

Vivienne scored first with a calm finish after strong team pressure. Ellie H added the second, demonstrating great positioning and quick reactions to convert a loose ball in the D.

Eleanor again was dominant on the wing and was a great assist to the creation of the goals.

Off the ball, King’s communicated well, ensuring Bablake struggled to progress beyond the halfway line.

Match 4 – King’s 0 : 0 Bromsgrove

In a tense match, King’s showed excellent discipline and tactical awareness.

Bromsgrove pressed aggressively, but King’s kept their shape, defending as a unit and clearing danger with confident hits. Savannah made an excellent stick save in goal.

King’s created several chances through clever wing play, using quick give-and-go passes to break forward.

Although they couldn’t quite find the finishing touch, their control of possession and defensive resilience ensured a well-earned draw.

Match 5 – King’s 0 : 1 Spratton Hall

In torrential rain, this match became a real test of focus and determination. Despite the difficult conditions, King’s battled hard and continued to move the ball with purpose.

Spratton Hall converted a rare chance, but King’s responded with spirited attacking play from Ellie H and Lilly-Anna, driving forward through the centre and forcing the goalkeeper into several saves.

The team showed grit in defence with Amelie and Maddie persevering in terrible conditions, Savannah being steadfast in goal, with all making brave tackles and clearing the ball well under pressure.

Match 6 – King’s 2 : 1 Bablake U11

Facing an older and physically stronger Bablake U11 side, King’s rose to the challenge with intensity and smart movement.

The attacking team of Sophie, Vivienne, Eleanor and Ellie worked tirelessly to win possession, pressing high and creating repeated scoring opportunities. Ellie H opened the scoring with a composed finish after a sweeping attacking move. Vivienne followed with another well-taken goal, demonstrating excellent close control and accuracy under pressure in a short corner.

King’s defended heroically in the final minutes, blocking shots and maintaining calm to secure a memorable win.

Medal Winners

The girls thoroughly deserved their silver medals after a day of exceptional effort, teamwork and resilience. Despite facing strong opponents and battling through truly unforgiving weather, they never lost their focus or determination.

Their communication, sportsmanship and willingness to push themselves in every match showed real maturity and commitment, they worked for each other, supported one another through every challenge and thoroughly deserved their silver medals.

Well done to the girls from King’s Hawford and King’s St Alban’s.

Her all-round contribution made her a hugely influential presence in every match and a fully deserving recipient of the Most Improved Player medal.

U11s

The U11 delivered a standout performance at the Warwick Prep U11s Hockey Tournament this weekend, overcoming torrential rain and blustery winds to secure the overall tournament victory.

Competing in a team with their King’s St Alban’s counterparts, with a joint King’s St Alban’s and King’s Hawford coaching team, the players demonstrated exceptional resilience and skill throughout the day. Across six fiercely contested matches, the team remained unbeaten, securing four wins and two draws, while netting an impressive 11 goals in total.

Rugby

U8 Tag Rugby Festival at RGS The Grange

The King’s Hawford U8 squad took part in their final tag rugby festival of what has been a very successful term. The event proved to be a fitting finale, showcasing just how much progress the boys have made in their game awareness, teamwork, and overall skill development.

Throughout the afternoon, both teams played with confidence and enthusiasm, demonstrating a far greater understanding of space, support play, and defensive organisation. Mr Hodgkins was hugely impressed with the attacking threat his team posed in every fixture, with quick passing, strong running lines, and excellent decision-making on display.

The standout performer of the festival was Oliver N, who enjoyed an outstanding afternoon. He scored several well-taken tries and contributed heavily in defence with numerous determined tackles, setting a brilliant example for his teammates.

Well done to all the boys for their commitment and improvement across the term—an excellent way to finish the season’s festivals.

U9 Rugby Festival at King’s St Alban’s

Mr Butt’s team played in the latest U9 festival, this time in the unfamiliar surrounds of the Cinderella Ground.

The change in venue did not put off our boys as they rose superbly to the challenge in matches versus RGS, Winterfold and Moor Park.

Chester and Felix carried hard, bouncing off defenders and leaving them in their wake. Alfie was elusive and tricky, and difficult for the opposition to pin down, with Casper showing his gas on multiple occasions as he scored some great tries out wide. Yaseen and Noah linked the play well and got the ball away quickly from the rucks.

As individuals, but more importantly as a team, these boys have improved enormously since the start of the contact rugby season and can all be very proud of their efforts.

U11 v RGS The Grange

The King’s Hawford U11 rugby teams enjoyed a set of superb fixtures against RGS The Grange on Wednesday afternoon. Mr Hodgkins’s team produced their strongest performance of the term in an excellent match. From the first whistle, the team showed real intent, combining determined defence with dynamic attacking play.

The defensive effort was particularly impressive. Alex B, Luca M and Henry L put in several outstanding and committed tackles, repeatedly halting the opposition’s momentum. Henry L also excelled at securing the ball in the ruck, ensuring King’s Hawford maintained possession at crucial moments.

In attack, the team played with great confidence and purpose. The standout performer was Austin R, whose superb speed and athleticism saw him break the defensive line time and time again. His efforts were rewarded with an exceptional six tries, a testament to both his individual brilliance and the support play around him.

Overall, it was a terrific display from the whole squad and a performance that reflected the hard work and progress made throughout the term. Well done to all involved.
