Sweet Sound of Success for Musicians

We are delighted to share with you the news of Associated Board Music exam success for King’s St Alban’s musicians, further to impressive results across the King’s Foundation at both King’s Worcester and King’s Hawford.

A total of sixteen pupils from King’s St Alban’s took exams in a range of instruments, including flute, ‘cello, singing and piano, across a range of grades from Grade 1 to Grade 5. After the challenges of the summer lockdown, which included switching to online instrumental lessons and the new recorded Associated Board Music exams for some pupils, it was a relief to revert back to a more traditional format of face-to-face exams in December. A significant number of the children gained Merits and special congratulations should go to Anna S who gained a Distinction for her Grade 2 Singing. A huge well done to everyone who was involved and to the pupils for achieving such fantastic results.

Musician success KSA

“We are really proud of all our students, who have demonstrated real flexibility, determination, and resilience in their learning this year. It is testament to the adaptability of the teaching staff who throughout lockdowns have been holding virtual music lessons, enabling the children to continue to enjoy and develop their musical talents.” Vanessa Gunter, Music Co-ordinator

Music at King’s St Alban’s has long been a centre of excellence and maintains strong links with the music of Worcester Cathedral. The Choristers of Worcester Cathedral receive their education at King’s St Alban’s and King’s Worcester.  There are many musical opportunities for our children at King’s St Alban’s; groups include Orchestra, Junior and Senior String Groups, Junior and Senior Wind Bands, Flute Choir, Recorder Groups, and Chamber Choir. All children in Years 3 to 6 sing in one of our two school choirs and many children opt to take individual music lessons on an instrument of their choosing.

Our budding musicians will once again have a chance to showcase their talents at the popular Informal Concerts that have been held virtually during the pandemic to great success, the first one of 2021 taking place on 2nd February.

The results for all our King’s St Alban’s musicians are:
