Swimming success & hockey champs.

This week has seen swimming success and our girls hockey team qualify for the Regional Finals…

U11 ‘In2Hockey’ Worcestershire County Tournament

Yesterday, some of the U11 girls went to RGS The Grange to compete in the county hockey tournament. The girls played really well and truly worked as a team. They played six matches throughout the afternoon; Isla and Poppy put in some great goals and Erin worked hard in the middle to keep her team moving. Darcey played in goal, put in some great saves and worked hard for her team.

The team managed to finish second in the tournament, which means they are now through to the regionals. These will take place sometime next term, as we await more details.

Swimming Gala at Blue Coat School

On Monday of this week, 32 Year 5 and 6 children travelled to Blue Coat School to compete in the third swimming gala of the term. The children were high in confidence, having tasted swimming success in the previous gala with RGS The Grange and King’s St Alban’s. The Year 6 swimmers were especially excited (and maybe a little apprehensive) approaching the demands of swimming 50m races rather than the usual 25m. Whilst being a challenge, this was also super preparation for those children who will be involved in the IAPS regional gala next term.

The level of competition was also a step up, with Blue Coat having several excellent swimming across the two year groups. Despite this, our children kept their spirits high and held their own in all races. It was pleasing to see the King’s Hawford children applying fantastic effort, making great progress in the pool and doing so with a smile on their faces. A special mention should go to Harry C, Erin L, Freddie P and Sammy M for winning their respective races, as well as a large number of children who secured second place finishes.

We will be returning to Blue Coat School in January for a second Year 5 and 6 gala before competing in the IAPS regional event at The Dragon School on Friday 10th February.
