The Week in Nursery & Pre-Prep 06.03.2020

This week we are hearing about 2C’s exciting week, with World Book Day activities, immersing themselves in their topic, The Great Fire of London and an exciting scientific experiment! 2C have loved listening to their class book of the week, ‘The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark’ by Jill Tomlinson. They have been listening enjoying this book for 5 minutes at the beginning of most of our lessons, as part of World Book Day. 2C have also had the opportunity to choose a favourite book from our Pre-Prep library for a 20-minute reading session.

This week in science, 2C have enjoyed testing out a range of materials to see if they can change a materials shape, by twisting, bending, stretching and squashing it. They recorded their results into a table and wrote about the conclusions they could draw. They then thought about materials that could not be changed in any way.

This half term, 2C are loving learning all about The Great Fire of London. The highlight of the week was our history workshop on Friday morning with Mr Cadle, who brought the topic to life! They had an incredible time learning about how the fire spread so quickly and how people lived in those days. They had the opportunity to dress up in 17th century costume, including famous historical figures they have been studying, such as Samuel Pepys. The children loved using buckets, water pumps and hoses to put out a reconstructed fire on a miniature crafted wooden house. They had a brilliant morning and we would like to thank Mr Cadle for teaching us in such a creative and interesting way.
