On Saturday 3rd February, many of our Upper Remove to Upper Sixth rowers competed at Wycliffe Big Head. Due to unpredictable conditions this was one of the first opportunities to get on the river this year. This did not deter any of the rowers, with strong performances seen from all our competitors, and the Boat Club came away with three winning crews. Our first pennant was won by our Senior Boys, racing in the Open Quadruple Sculls event; the crew, comprising Henry Armstrong, Zak Rawles, Tom Eaton and David Watson, raced well and navigated the course with ease, looking strong throughout the race. Our second win was secured by the Senior Girls racing in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls. Sophie Lee, Emily Timm, Beatrice Evans and Alice Evans dominated during the early part of the race to ensure victory. Our final victory of the day went to the Senior Girls’ Eight on its first racing outing. The eight was made up of Hannah Stock, Anna Jethwa, Imogen Carter, Amelia Clark, Kate Emsley, Lily Beckett, Isobel Copeland and Anna Porter and was coxed very capably by Emily Watkins.
