U11 Hockey Triumph at Malvern College
On Thursday, our U11 hockey team travelled to Malvern College for an action-packed tournament, facing strong competition from several schools. From start to finish, the girls showcased skill, determination, and outstanding teamwork. In the group stage, the team was unstoppable: a 5-0 victory against Moor Park, a 1-0 win over RGS The Grange, a hard-fought 0-0 draw with The Downs, Malvern, and a convincing 3-0 triumph against Wrekin Prep. Their brilliant performances secured top spot in the group, earning them a place in the final against The Elms, who had also finished first in their pool.
The final was a heart-stopping contest! The Elms struck first, scoring the only goal our girls conceded all afternoon. But our team refused to back down. With sheer resilience and teamwork, they equalised just two minutes before the final whistle. Thea and Nell combined brilliantly to create a golden opportunity for the winning goal, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats but the match ended level. Both teams were crowned joint winners, a truly memorable and well-deserved achievement!
Every player made a valuable contribution: Romi, Thea, Nell, Hannah, Elizabeth, Millie, Martha, Kasvika, and Cerys. Their commitment, skill, and sportsmanship were exemplary, and they should be immensely proud of their efforts.
A huge thank you to Malvern College for hosting such a seamless and exciting tournament. We can’t wait for the Warwick Prep tournament next Saturday and the Small Schools IAPS competition the following Wednesday, our team is ready to shine again!
