U11 Rugby Between King’s St Alban’s and King’s Hawford Delivers Thrills

U11 Rugby v King’s Hawford – Mr Hooman

The U11B rugby match between King’s St Alban’s and King’s Hawford was a thrilling encounter that showcased the determination and developing skills of both teams. The boys from St Alban’s started off slowly, with gaps appearing in their defence which allowed Hawford to take an early lead. Hawford capitalised well on our sluggish start, demonstrating good awareness and punishing any defensive lapses.

However, King’s St Alban’s were quick to bounce back, driven forward by some fantastic runs from Henry S and Crispin N. Both players were instrumental in turning the tide, either scoring crucial tries or setting up opportunities for others with powerful and agile running. Their contributions brought us back into contention and inspired the whole team to dig in and fight hard.

The standout performance of the day came from Ben F, who was absolutely superb throughout the match and was deservedly named man of the match. His brilliant tackles were crucial in halting the Hawford attack time and again, and he led by example with his tenacity and commitment in defence. Jackson and George P also made good contributions, displaying excellent handling skills and being quick and strong in the rucks.

George C and Luca E showed tremendous courage, consistently putting their bodies on the line and making strong, determined runs. Their fearless attitude in contact situations saw them break through tackles and gain valuable metres for the team, keeping us on the front foot.

As the match progressed, it was clear that we improved with every passing minute. The boys showed great resilience and cohesion, battling hard until the final whistle. Though the early lapses put us under pressure, the way we responded as a team was fantastic.

It was a great match, with plenty of positives to take away, and it’s clear that the team is continuing to develop well. Congratulations to all the boys for their effort and teamwork – well done!
