The U13 Hockey Team faced a long journey of three and a half hours to play in the first round of the Independent Schools Hockey Plate against St Edmund’s College in Ware, Hertfordshire this week.
In the previous game, the girls played Solihull School and faced a challenging game against a strong and well-disciplined team, unfortunately not being able to gain a victory. Following this, the girls were excited for their day out and were very eager to put out a positive performance!
The team were successful in gaining an 8-1 victory over St Edmunds College, with 6 of the 9 girls on the team scoring a goal and a special mention to Lola M for her hattrick. This was an enjoyable game for all the girls involved and a great experience for the team!
The team went 1-0 down, but quickly improved their play and adapted accordingly allowing them to get back in front. The girls had really strong attacking play towards the D and were awarded for their efforts with multiple short corners.
Miss Douglas says of the performance “After a few disappointing fixtures of being unable to convert attacking play in the D, it was a delight to see progression in the team’s performance and see improvements from what we’ve been working on in training.”
We wish the team the best of luck in the coming rounds of the Independent Schools Hockey Plate competition!
