U6 Assembly

On Friday 4th March 2022, Development Director, Liz Elliott and Head of Alumni Relations, Sophie Borrillo-McLellan gave an assembly to the current Upper Sixth in the wonderful surroundings of the Cathedral: the first Friday assembly in the Cathedral in two years.

The purpose of the assembly was to speak to the students about their forthcoming transition into the OV community. Head of Sixth Form, Josh Hand (Cl 91-01) is an OV himself and was able to open with a few words on his positive experiences as a part of the Old Vigornian community. Liz and Sophie then spoke to the pupils of the exciting events and benefits of being a part of the OV network, as well as covering the (less exciting), but all important GDPR regulations and consents.

The assembly finished with a few words from Harry Flockhart (Ca 13-20). Harry spoke of his experiences as a recipient of the Robert Harley Award and he encouraged the current students to put themselves forward for this. The U6 can apply for the Robert Harley Award if they have an experience they would like to pursue that shows endeavour or widens their experiences. Harry had used his award to attend an Economics course that had been hugely beneficial for him and also provided contacts which have turned into internships. Harry had also attended a recent OV Professions meet in London and was able to share his positive experiences at this event with the Upper Sixth students.

We are greatly looking forward to welcoming the U6 into the OV community in July!
