Girls' Netball

U8 A & B  v Winterfold

The girls had a lovely afternoon at Winterfold on Tuesday afternoon. They were lucky enough to be playing the sports hall so managed to keep warm. The A team played first and as the game progressed their passing and moving into space improved. However, Winterfold were a strong team and scored many goals. We need to work at moving in front of our player and being a little more determined to win the ball. However, the girls enjoyed their match but unfortunately lost. We only had 3 B team players, as there was a lot of illness on Tuesday, however, Winterfold lent us 4 players so we still managed a practice match which ended in a 2-2 draw. Well done girls!

U9 v Winterfold

The girls had 2 tough matches against Winterfold on Tuesday. However, they all improved as the games progressed and gave 100% right up to the end. Lilly- Mae had a good 'come back' game and I was very impressed with her amount of energy through the match. Also, Izzy and Pari worked hard at either end of their match and pleased to see the progress they have made.

U9 Netball tournament

On Thursday afternoon the U9 girls played in a tournament hosted by King's Hawford down at the senior netball courts. They started well against Wolverhampton Grammar and had the ball in the attacking end for much of the game. We were leading by 1-0 right up until the last minute when Wolverhampton Grammar score, ending in a 1-1 draw. In the second match, our shooters had settled and we won 2-0 against Malvern St James. We continued in our winning streak and also beat Abberley 6-3 with a superb goal from Amelia from right by the edge of the D. Our last match of the group was against Bluecoat and if we won that match we would top our group. Unfortunately we lost 1-2, we didn't play our best and were a little disappointed. However, we had done enough to secure 2nd place in our group and were through to the semi-finals. We were drawn against the winners of the other group, RGS The Grange. We played our very best but RGS The Grange were a good team and went on to win the tournament overall. We then had one more game for 3rd and 4th place playoffs. Ironically we had to play against Bluecoat again who we had lost to in the group stages! We had a chat to the girls about really wanting this and doing their very best. They did and came up trumps and won the match 3-0. This meant the U9 girls were 3rd in the tournament overall. A superb afternoon girls, well done!

U10 v Winterfold

After a slow start in the first 2 quarters of their match, which allowed Winterfold to gain a strong lead, the girls fought back to play some excellent netball in the last two quarters. It was definitely a 'match of two halves'. Arabella, Ava and Martha were outstanding and there movement around the court showed a good understanding of 'the use the space'. All the girls should be congratulated on how determined they were and how they worked so hard right up until the final whistle. I was impressed how mature the girls were in the post match analysis and they all decided we need to work on our 'use of space' and 'marking ' in our next lesson. Well done to Piper for getting 'Player of the Match'.

U11 A v Winterfold

On Wednesday afternoon the U11 A team played against Winterfold. We played 4 lots of 8 minutes to up their stamina. There was some good defence work by Eve, Clarisse and Jess who got the ball put fo the defending end towards the attackers. Martha and Fen were on pint with their shooting skills and Matilda and Bea were never ending in their movement, going again when the ball wasn't immediately passed to them. At half time the score was 7-3 to KSA. However, Winterfold pulled it back in the half although we still managed a win 12-10 to KSA. Well done girls, your netball is a superb standard for U11!

U11 C v Winterfold

The U11 C team enjoyed wearing the new netball dresses for their match against Winterfold. Winterfold started strongly, making some good interceptions and converting them in to goals. The KSA shooters took a little while to warm up but eventually scored a goal. After the first quarter, the score was 3-1. The second quarter was very similar and Winterfold began to pull ahead. At half-time the score was 6-2. In the third quarter, KSA started to pass the ball more carefully and move into space with greater speed. KSA scored 1 more goal while Winterfold scored 2. After the third quarter, the score was 8-3 to Winterfold. In the final quarter, KSA played brilliantly. The shooters, Harriet K and Aggie Y, managed to score 3 more goals. The whole team defended superbly and prevented Winterfold from scoring. KSA won the quarter 3-0. The final score was 8-6. Well done to the whole team for fighting back and not giving up!

Boys' Football

U8 B v Winterfold

On Tuesday afternoon, the U8 B football team travelled to Winterfold for an afternoon of football against the hosts and RGS. It was a great afternoon, over which the boys made great progress. We started to play towards the space much more and use the width of the pitch. I was particularly pleased with George H and Sebastian for listening to the advice given to them. Well done, boys.

U8/9 B v Winterfold

With an unexpected change to team formats on arrival, the U8/9's 'B' team came together and fought valiantly against a far stronger opposition.

Full credit to Winterfold for their strong performance and to KSA boys for not giving up!

U10 A v Winterfold

This Wednesday our U10  A team travelled up the A449 to play a very well drilled and organised Winterfold team. Max Knott  captained the team and had another sterling game, getting forward when needed and marshalling the defence very well indeed. Peter John made the move to defence and was very impressive in his darting runs and committed tackling. Winterfold were very attack minded and their quick and accurate passing quickly  resulted in a  flurry of goals: Tom H could do very little about the power of some of their shots and despite pulling off several excellent saves, the home team were soon 3 -  0  up. A very spirited fight back from our boys saw the half time score at 4 - 1 with Arthur M finding the back of the net with a great low drive into the bottom right of their goal. Henry G and Arthur D combined well in midfield at the start of the second half and  strong runs from Fabian D, combining well with Peter J and Henry G finally resulted  in our boys pulling another goal back to bring the score to 4 - 2. The speed of their counter-attack undid our very well organized and highly committed defence on two more occasions however. Despite a score line that made the game look very one sided we made great progress in organisation and the resilience shown by the whole team was highly commendable.

U10 B v Winterfold

Wednesday saw the U10 B team continue their season with a game against a good Winterfold side. Despite playing very well in the first half, we couldn’t quite get the goal we deserved, but we were testing their goalkeeper. In the second half, goals from George F and Rupert gave us a 2-1 lead, before a late penalty to Winterfold levelled it up and it finished 2-2. I was pleased with everyone, but Harry C, George P and Sam P were all excellent. Well done, boys.

U10 C v Winterfold

The boys played extremely well against Winterfold. The opposition was a strong side and we were 2-0 down by half time. We made some tactical changes to positions bringing George up to be centre mid with William J center forward who were both supported by Tigo and William P this really helped the team push on the attack. William scored a fantastic goal. Well done to those who played in defense we held our ground to finish the game 3-1.

U11 'D/E' v Winterfold

A terrific match to referee which saw Winterfold win 2-3. And boy, was it end-to-end!

Going 0-1 down, KSA came back strongly, aided by some fantastic running and passing from Monty. H and James. De.  After HT, Winterfold went 0-2 up, however KSA did not stop giving-in.  Enter Will. G - two fantastic goals helped the team claw it back and the crowd were rocking (esp Mrs. G !).

A wonderful game. Great team spirit. And very proud of the boys resilience.

Boys' Rugby

Rugby Club with Worcester Warriors players

On Monday afternoon, the U11 rugby players had their final training session before their joint tour with Hawford this weekend. We were lucky enough to have 3 Worcester Warriors come and help with the session, all of which are involved in Warriors’ semi-final this evening. Thank you to Scott van Breda, Simon Kerrod and Dean Hammond for coming - the boys loved it!
