King's St Alban's

3 May

Unfortunately, it has been a damp start to the summer term and we have lost a number of fixtures to the endless rain. However, we were delighted to be able to play our first girls cricket fixture on Tuesday against Winterfold. This was a great success, with both schools enjoying a new sport, it was a learning experience for both staff and girls.

U8 Cricket v Winterfold

The Year 3 girls headed in to their first ever cricket match full of excitement! Pari and Anna started proceedings scoring 4's respectively which enthused excellent batting and confident calling from all the girls. The bowling is an area needing improvement, but considering it was their first match we were extremely pleased, especially with Heidi's consistency and Gracie bowling somebody out. An extremely pleasant afternoon of cricket, winning both innings, scoring 217 and 218 runs.

U9 Cricket v Winterfold

The U9 girls played their first ever cricket match for King’s St Alban’s on Tuesday afternoon. Luckily the rain held off and KSA elected to bat first. There were some super runs by some of the girls working out whether it was safe to run or not. Generally they picked correctly and Lily hit two superb balls which gained her two runs for each. When fielding the girls learned how to start further out then walk in as the bowler is bowling the ball. Many girls bowled under arm but with a couple of good over arm bowls coming from Grace. All in all a very successful afternoon as the girls' started on their cricketing career for King’s St Alban’s. Final score KSA 232, Winterfold 263.
