Girls’ Hockey

U11A Team.

We came up against a strong Hereford team on Wednesday and I felt they caught us napping at the start of the game.  The girls then woke up and started to battle back. We struggled to get the positioning right and found ourselves playing too narrowly. In the second half although we were 3 goals down the girls definitely improved. In defence, Arabella, sent the ball wide and was keen to advance up the pitch.  Ava held her position well and demonstrated some lovely stick skills. Again, our new found goalie, Larissa, made some pleasing saves. A good effort from them all and very pleased with the resilience they showed throughout the game.

U11B hockey v Hereford Cathedral

There was some superb hockey played by the B team on Wednesday afternoon. Anna and Steph were strong in defence and Gracie was quick dribbling the ball up her wing with Heidi hanging in the centre ready for the feed in. However, we struggled to get the cross into the circle due to the Hereford defenders and they took advantage of us while we were unprepared and watching the play. Final score 0-3 to Hereford. Well done girls, remember sticks on the ground and go in for that tackle.

Miss Jordan

U10/11C Team v Hereford Cathedral

The C team had a hard fought battle against Hereford Cathedral school on Wednesday afternoon. We set our target to try and get the ball into space and not being scared of running with the ball if there wasn’t a pass available. They did this well and there were some pleasing passes linked together. Also we were keen to make sure that everybody got back behind the ball when we lost possession. They all worked tirelessly at this and in the second half the spacing and organisation of the game was very pleasing.  The ball travelled from end to end but the game was won by an impressive single goal scored by Anna from a sharp angle. Well done to them all!

U11D  v Hereford Cathedral

After a couple of injuries early on the girls soon settled into their match. The ball was up and down both ends however, we seemed to be the stronger team. Superb runs from Florence in attack and great defending by Pari were the order of the day. We had about 5 superb shots on goal saved by their goalkeeper. Unfortunately they managed to sneak one past us to end the score 0-1 to Hereford. Well done girls lots of good hockey.

Miss Jordan

U9A v Abberley Hall

The girls had a lovely afternoon up at Abberley on Tuesday and we dodged most of the nasty weather. It was a very exciting match and it was clear to see the improvement in the girls from 2 weeks ago. They were much more aware of passing into space and running back behind the ball to defend. As such the scores were very exciting 0-1 to Abberley, then 1-1, then 1-2 to Abberley then 2-2 and finally about 30 seconds before the end Abberley snuck one in to end the score 2-3 to Abberley. Well done girls a superb afternoon of hockey. Special mention should go to Sidney for her never ending determination to attack the ball.

BOYS’ RUGBY

U11A v The Downs

The boys in this team continue to impress and progress.  On a beautiful afternoon and in the shadow of the Malverns, the team worked hard and were part of an eight try thriller against The Downs.  Some poor tacking and inconsistency in line speed allowed The Downs to score three early tries and a cricket score looked possible.  However, the boys showed super resilience and were inspired by a super solo try from Oscar following a strong, determined run.  Two quick opportunistic tries from George made the game interesting but The Downs had size on their side and in the end just about deserved a narrow win.  For KSA, James continued to develop and looked dangerous with the ball in hand and Sam had a pleasing second game for the team.  The boys are showing a lot of heart and commitment this year!

Mr Chapman

U11B v The Downs

The U11 started off very well, scoring a few early tries through some great passing moves and the determination to get over the try line. The KSA boys showed they have been listening and working hard on improving their tackling in games lessons and clubs in the past few weeks. Arthur led the team well, giving out clear instructions to his teammates. It was good to see the boys giving each other encouragement and working well as a team. Tom and George used their pace and skills to find gaps through the Downs defence resulting in a number of tries. Well done to all the boys, who are showing great progress in all aspects of the game.

Mr Hooman

U10A v The Downs

In a thrilling match, KSA showed wonderful resilience, against the face-of-adversity, to come back from 3 tries down and draw 8-8 ! Sam.K was MoM scoring 4 tries, a powerful display by Luca, and good ball-passing decisions by Hugo, were particular highlights.

A terrific team performance.

SWIMMING

Years 5 & 6 Swimming Gala v RGS The Grange & King’s Hawford

Our first gala of the year and it was truly wonderful to see,  and hear,  the spectator area bursting with proud,  happy parents and the swimmers performing so well. The pool was brimming over with a passion for swimming. Especially wonderful to see the team work and cameradi between children who are new to the school and those ‘old hands’ who have already represented the school in the pool a number of times.
