Boys rugby

U11 v RGS Springfield

We took a mixed team across the city for an enjoyable game on Wednesday in the autumn sunshine.  This was my first chance to work with this group of boys in a match situation and I was very impressed. Their attitude throughout was excellent and they were quick to act on coaching advice.  As the game progressed, their passing and catching improved leading to some super team tries.  Tom and Arthur were dangerous runners throughout and Henry and Tobias are improving game by game.  RGS kept going stoically and deserved a late consolation try but KSA had too much speed and strength and ended up scoring nine tries.  An enjoyable afternoon; well done, boys!

U10 v King’s Hawford

It was a lovely sunny afternoon down at Slingpool Walk, where the boys faced a strong King’s Hawford side. The KSA U10’s showed good ability with the ball however let themselves down with their defending. Yousrey and Oscar beat the Hawford defence on several occasions to score the tries for St Alban’s. It was played in a great manner and every single boy on the pitch enjoyed their afternoon of rugby.

U8 Festival at King’s Hawford

A few weeks after their first ever rugby festival, the progression the boys had made since then was evident from the very start. They were involved in four very close games against RGS Springfield, King’s Hawford, RGS The Grange and Warwick. Peter and Harry both showed several phenomenal individual runs resulting in a number of tries scored. It was great to see so many happy faces and the boys thoroughly enjoying themselves for the entire festival.

Girls Hockey

U11A v Abberley

The U11 A team had a great afternoon up at the astro. They worked well together as a team attempting to use the space to the wings. Phoebe was excellent in defence with some very strong hits out. Ava was never ending in her determination to win the ball and often found the space on the pitch. At half time it was 1-1 bu unfortunately in the second half Abberley had some super shots to make the score 1-3 to Abberley.

U11B v Abberley

The U11B team started well, they were strong in defence and kept running back behind the ball when Abberley had possession. At half time the score was 0-2 to Abberley. Our girls continued to work hard and Juliet made some excellent saves in goal. The girls worked hard to make the tackle but needed to be a little more determined and not just go for the first tackle but to keep on fighting until they win the ball. Unfortunately Abberley snuck another 2 goals past us and the final score was 0-4 to Abberley.

U10A v Bromsgrove

The U10A team did very well and won 3-0. Anna and Gracie scored and the goalie form Bromsgrove finished a shot from Heidi. Today was Maheen’s first time in the A team and she played outstandingly. Steph got ‘Player of the Match’ for her amazing passes and her tackling. Florence did very well, pushing forwards and taking shots on goal. Well done to Olivia who saved three shots on goal.

U10B v Bromsgrove

We had a brilliant match and drew 1-1. Pari was ‘Player of the Match’ for her tackling. Henrietta and Izzy ran up the pitch passing to each other and Izzy scored an excellent goal. Zara volunteered to play in goal as our goalie was poorly and she was amazing. Otillie played well on the wing and made some good tackles. Emily played amazingly as a forward and worked very hard.

Abberley Hall Cross Country

On Thursday we had teams in the Abberley Hall Cross Country from Hawford, KSA and KSW. In total there were 13 schools in the competition and hundreds of runners. It is an excellent event but a hard course to run, over a variety of terrains and particularly hilly. The KSA runners were all a little nervous before the event started but keen to get going. All of our runners should be congratulated on their excellent performances and we had some amasing individual results. Phoebe M came second and Anna S came 7 in the U11 Girls event. This was a strong team and Martha K and Ava T should also be congratulated as this team finished 2nd overall in their age group.
