Boys Rugby U11A Bromsgrove, Monmouth and Stonyhurst
The U11A team had an enjoyable and challenging afternoon at Bromsgrove School on Wednesday in a mini-tournament. The first game was against St Mary’s, Stonyhurst and was a close, tough and enjoyable encounter. Our boys tackled well, showed good line speed and moved the ball as well as they have all season. Luke deserved his two tries as we went down narrowly 3-2 in a thriller. We were then well beaten by an excellent Bromsgrove team and our lack of squad size (missing three A team players through injury) meant fatigue hit in the last match against Monmouth. That said, we came back stoically in the second half with George and Max to the fore with their running and tackling. This was an excellent afternoon of rugby education for our boys, and, as ever, their commitment and effort could not be faulted.
U11B v Bromsgrove, Monmouth and Stonyhurst
On a sunny but cold afternoon, our u11 B’s travelled to Bromsgrove prep school for a triangular fixture. We were up against two physical teams. First we played Bromsgrove in what was a tough outing. We found it difficult to break through the defensive lines of Bromsgrove. However, a good passing move saw Tobias score his first try for the school and our only try of the game. Monmouth were our second opponents and again we found it hard to break them down. We managed to get our passing much quicker and this enabled us to have more joy out wide. A storming run from Arthur D was our only try against a tough team! Well done lads.
U11C v Bromsgrove ,Monmouth and Stonyhurst
I enjoyed the opportunity to watch the U11C team play rugby in a triangular at Bromsgrove on Wednesday. They had two very hard matches but some of the boys really impressed me with their grit and determination. George P was outstanding, he made tackle after tackle and kept getting up and chasing the ball. Will J made some impressive runs into space and scored 3 well deserved tries. Ethan showed good knowledge of the game and tried to organise the team. It was great to see Henry S play his first ever rugby match and do so well, not scared to try and make the tackle. This was a pleasing afternoon of rugby and we made some progress as the afternoon advanced.
U9 Rugby Festival at Winterfold
This was the best rugby we have seen from the U9 boys this year. The amount they have come on since the start of the year is astonishing and very pleasing to see. Every single boy made some great tackles. It was great to see a number of perfectly timed offloads allowing for the attacking moves to flow and a number of tries to be scored from it. Sam C is continuing to improve every aspect of his rugby, and really stood out for the KSA U9 boys. Another special mention to Eddie U, Harry N and Jack T who performed extremely well all afternoon and scored a large proportion of the KSA tries.
