WEEKLY SPORTS ROUND-UP 28.06.19

Cricket:

U11 Boys  vs RGS The Grange

In their final KSA match, ever, our U11 'A' boys turned on the style and blew RGS Grange away.  Seth and Henry put on 83 runs between them, setting RGS 134 to win from 20 overs. KSA making 133-3 having been put into bat.

Suff and Hass bowled neatly to start, then Ben stepped up taking 3-5 off 3 overs. Haydn', Henry, Charlie. C and Hassan, then followed and each took wickets leaving RGS 53-9.  The game ended with a flying one-handed Henry, diving to his left.  Applause from players, staff and parents ensued.

A perfect end for this outstanding team.

U10 A Boys vs RGS The Grange

The U10 As rounded out their cricket season with a great game over at RGS The Grange. Bowling first, the boys bowled very well and kept the extras down to a minimum. We were pretty sharp in the field, but RGS did put us under pressure and run very well. The standout bowler was Piers Jelfs, who took 2 wickets in the final over of the innings. Unfortunately, out batting innings did not go quite as well. Whilst we played some decent shots and scored some good runs, we lost far too many wickets to put RGS under much pressure. As I said to the boys after the game, this team has come on leaps and bounds this year and will, I am sure, continue to do so next year. Well done, boys, it has been a pleasure.

U9 Boys vs RGS The Grange

An extremely pleasing result and performance saw KSA U9 Boys beat RGS Grange 317 - 297.

Encouraging bowling from Henry, Oscar and Yousery, helped keep RGS away from a big total.  Then excellent quick singles from Jinc and Oscar, along with determination from Thomas, Giles and Yousery, to keep out their better bowlers, helped KSA over the winning line.

U11A Girls v RGS The Grange

U11A girls' cricket played a 22 over games against RGS The Grange on Wednesday afternoon. There were some strong fielding performances from our girls and we managed to take 10 wickets including a couple of good catches. However, our batting wasn't strong enough as RGS had a couple of very good bowlers and we failed to score enough runs to beat the. Final score: RGS 225, KSA 177. Players' player for batting was Fen and players' player for bowling/fielding was Eve. Well done!

U11B Girls v RGS The Grange

It was clear the girls wanted to finish their last match for St Alban's in style, and they put in a fantastic performance with some exceptional and fierce batting, combined with precise fielding and much-improved bowling. They definitely made big improvements to their game from the start of the season, and finishing with plenty of enthusiasm for next years season. Congratulations to Esther for being awarded fielder of the match, and Tilly batter of the match who also managed to smash a 6. A huge well done to them all in their last matches.

U10 Girls Cricket v RGS The Grange

This was a very good end to the cricket season. The girls all bowled well and we gave fewer extras away than in the previous matches. Piper bowled the first over, she did particularly well and bowled 5 dot balls in the over. Grace and Arabella batted extremely well and were the highest scoring partnership, getting 33 runs off 3 overs. The match was very close on runs made but unfortunately we lost more wickets than RGS which tipped the match into their favour.

U9 Girls Cricket v RGS The Grange

It is so pleasing to see how much these girls have improved through the term. For all the girls to be bowling so consistently at this stage is very promising.  We batted well but there are still runs to be had with more confident running. Steph had a very strong game all round, with some lively fielding getting the ball in quickly to the stumps. Well done to Gracie for getting player of the match.

U9B Girls Cricket v RGS The Grange

The girls were extremely pleasing to watch on Tuesday afternoon, especially as it was evident they had taken instructions and advice on board from previous matches and games sessions. They batted with great enthusiasm and enjoyment, whilst sharpening up their fielding and bowling especially. They should be really proud of themselves, and it was excellent to see so much progression. A special well done to Lydia for getting player of the match.
