Year 2 Discover the Inspiring Story of Mary Anning

As part of their History topic, Inspirational People, Year 2 have been learning about the remarkable life of pioneering fossil hunter Mary Anning.

The children were fascinated to discover how Mary made some of the most important fossil finds of her time and overcame many challenges throughout her life. They learned about her determination, resilience and perseverance in the face of hardship and loss, and discussed why she is remembered as such an important figure in history today.

Year 2 showed great curiosity throughout the topic, asking thoughtful questions about Mary’s life and achievements. They also enjoyed closely examining photographs and illustrations of some of her most significant fossil discoveries, helping them to understand the impact of her work on our knowledge of prehistoric life.

It has been wonderful to see the children’s enthusiasm for learning as they explored the story of a truly inspirational individual.
