Year 2 Try Their Hand at Boule
As part of their current French topic, ‘Sports and Hobbies’, Year 2 have been enjoying a variety of fun and interactive activities to help them learn new vocabulary and practise their listening skills.
In class, the children played an energetic game of charades, acting out different sports to help embed the French vocabulary in a memorable way. They also enjoyed a lively round of bingo, listening carefully to match the spoken words with the correct pictures, fantastic practice for both language recall and attention to detail!
With the sun shining, the class headed out to the Quad for a hands-on cultural experience, choosing to play the traditional French game of boules. For some, it brought back fond memories of playing during family holidays, while for others it was a brand-new challenge. There was plenty of laughter and friendly competition as everyone took turns, cheered each other on, and practised the careful technique required. Congratulations to Mikaeel, who was crowned our boule champion!
It was a wonderful way to bring the language and culture of France to life and there’s already talk of boules becoming a new playtime favourite!
As Year 2 look ahead to Year 3, they’re also getting excited to start learning a new language, Spanish!
Bravo, Year 2!
