Year 2’s Inspirational Journey: Learning About Florence Nightingale

Year 2 had an engaging and memorable afternoon during their history workshop with Mr Cadle, exploring the life and legacy of Florence Nightingale. As part of their Inspirational People topic, the class was eager to learn about this pioneering figure who changed the course of nursing and healthcare.

Mr Cadle brought Florence Nightingale’s story to life in a truly hands-on way, allowing the children to immerse themselves in the history. They had the exciting opportunity to try on Victorian-era costumes, even pretending to be soldiers on stretchers, just like those she cared for during the Crimean War.

The children were captivated by the real photographs from the Crimean War and enjoyed examining various historical items from the Victorian era. It was a wonderful afternoon of learning, giving the children a deeper understanding of Florence Nightingale’s incredible impact on healthcare.

Well done Year 2, for embracing history with such enthusiasm and curiosity!
