Year 3’s crafty afternoon at Big King’s
On Tuesday, pupils from Year 3 left King’s Hawford for their first taste of life in “Big King’s”. They had been invited to attend a Christmas craft afternoon by the King’s Worcester Senior School Art department. Ms Ellender and Mr Hayward had kindly arranged for our Year 3 pupils to complete four Christmas art activities, using the impressive facilities in the Senior School Art department.
There was a range of different creative activities on offer and the children relished the opportunity to get stuck in, under the watchful eye of the Senior School specialist art teachers. Activities included biscuit decorating, crown embellishment, star decoration printing and Christmas card collages. The art department was quickly transformed into a busy hub of creativity with glitter, sparkles and colour. The children embraced the opportunity and enjoyed the chance to work alongside Ms Ellender and Mr Hayward.
Pupils were treated to a cookie and hot chocolate break midway through the session; this gave pupils the chance to look at one another’s creations and chat with the members of staff. It was wonderful to see all of the children getting stuck into the different activities on offer. We could tell from their approach to the tasks at hand that they were inspired by the Senior School setting.
The staff members from King’s Hawford, Mr Stigant, Mrs Horrocks and Miss Woolley were full of praise for Year 3. Mr Stigant said the pupils were a credit to King’s Hawford and behaved impeccably.
Although a move to “Big King’s” is a few years away, The King’s Foundation aims to build strong connections between all three of our schools, ensuring the smoothest of transitions from our Prep Schools to Senior School in Year 7. This is the first in a series of events that will take place over the next few years as our pupils progress towards Senior School.
