Year 6 Experience Senior School Life
Year 6 children from King’s Hawford and King’s St Alban’s enjoyed an exciting transition visit to King’s Worcester, filled with curiosity, creativity and confidently taking on new challenges.
The visit started off with an assembly in the JMT, where the children heard from Mr Charles and Mr Chapman all about life at ‘Big King’s’, before the afternoon continued with a range of engaging activities in different parts of the school.
Children climbed the famous spiral staircase to reach the country’s oldest classroom, where they explored Classics and designed their own Roman coins, bringing history to life in a truly memorable setting.
In maths, the Year 6 pupils tackled number challenges that really got them thinking, while in history they worked together to solve a gripping murder mystery, putting their detective skills to the test. They also spent time in the drama studios, exploring moods and themes through creative activities in these impressive modern spaces.
After a busy afternoon, the children all enjoyed cookies in the marquee with their friends, along with Mr Charles and Mr Chapman.
It was wonderful to see children mixing so confidently, working together and embracing new challenges, in what was a fantastic afternoon that gave everyone a real insight into life at senior school. It was just one of many transition events that take place to help our Year 5 and 6 children prepare for life at King’s Worcester.
The sessions helped build the growing friendships between the King’s Hawford and King’s St Alban’s children and provided much to reflect on as they think about the exciting opportunities ahead.
