Exceptional Week for Netball Teams as U16s Crowned County Champions

Netballers across the age groups have showcased their incredible talent in a series of netball tournaments over the last week.

U16s – County Tournament

The U16 Netball Team were delighted to be crowned champions at the County Tournament held earlier this week in Bromsgrove, despite facing a series of tough local opponents.

The tournament started with group games against South Bromsgrove, Hanley Castle, and Stourport. These games saw clinical attacking play and relentless defensive pressure from the whole team. Lots of combinations were put onto court and the girls adapted well to all the changes that were made, showing great connections all over the court.

The results of the group games were:

King’s 11-1 South Bromsgrove

King’s 11-2 Hanley Castle

King’s 23-2 Stourport

By winning all three games, the team topped the group and went into the semi-finals against RGS.

The girls started strong, scoring off our own centre pass and turning over theirs straight away. The structures on court were brilliant and the intensity from all the girls was incredible, resulting in a 14-3 win.

The girls had made the final against Bromsgrove and secured their place at Regionals

A strong start saw the girls take an early two goal lead, which was retained going into half-time. The determination from the whole team was brilliant and their composure and calmness in the second half was amazing, resulting in a 12-5 win, making the girls County Champions!

All 12 girls spent on court and played amazingly, and when they were on the sidelines their support and encouragement for the team was outstanding – a real team performance throughout the tournament, that everyone at King’s is extremely proud of.

U19s – County Tournament

The team produced an excellent afternoon of netball, opening the group stages with dominant and well-structured performances against both North Bromsgrove and Malvern College. Their confidence in possession, intensity in defence, and being clinical in the final third ensured convincing wins and a strong start to the competition.

As the tournament progressed, the squad were forced to contend with both injury and illness, yet their determination and resilience never wavered. Despite these challenges, they secured a well-deserved place in the semi-finals after finishing second in a tightly contested group.

The match against Bromsgrove proved to be one of the most competitive encounters we have ever seen against them. Momentum swung repeatedly between the two sides, creating a fast, physical, and gripping contest. Sadly, the decisive moments fell just out of reach, and despite a committed effort, the team narrowly missed out at the final whistle.

Nevertheless, every player should be immensely proud of their contribution. The individual skill, teamwork, and heart shown throughout the tournament were outstanding. The squad gave absolutely everything on court, representing themselves and the school with distinction.

U13 B & C and 14 B & C – Worcestershire Tournament

King’s U13BC and U14BC netball teams enjoyed some fantastic games as they took part in a tournament alongside schools from across Worcestershire. The U14BC squad and the U13BC team faced a strong field of A and B teams from the region.

More than 20 teams and over 200 girls took to the over the course of the tournament, creating an energetic and inspiring atmosphere despite the less-than-perfect weather.

On court, the KSW girls displayed passion, teamwork, and unwavering support for one another which resulted in some fantastic performances.

The tournaments were also an important step in building local netball networks, helping ensure that every pupil who attends King’s netball club has the chance to experience competitive play.
