Superb Team Spirit and Success for Foundation Athletics Teams

Athletics teams from across the Foundation delivered some fantastic performances as well as an incredible sense of team spirit and camaraderie at the Ryland Centre on Monday.

It was an excellent afternoon of sport for pupils from the senior school as well as King’s Hawford and King’s St Alban’s, with King’s Worcester was the only school in the city competing at both U11 and U14 level.

Well done to everyone involved on a brilliant afternoon of athletics and showing fantastic support to your Foundation peers!

King’s Worcester U14s

In the U14s, it was fantastic to have so many pupils competing from year 7 & 8, including several former Hawford and St Alban’s pupils, showing the incredible depth of talent currently coming through the school.

The afternoon saw some great performances with many pupils setting new personal bests.

It was enormously impressive that both our boys’ and girls’ teams won the overall winners’ trophies, rounding off a superb day of athletics success.

King’s Hawford

King’s Hawford U11 athletes enjoyed a highly successful afternoon, with twenty children selected to represent the school across a variety of track and field events.

The children all competed with great enthusiasm and determination, as well as demonstrating superb techniques and impressive levels of strength, speed, stamina and resilience.  The standard of competition was extremely high, yet the King’s Hawford athletes rose to the challenge brilliantly, with many achieving new personal best performances in their respective events.

Special congratulations must go to Elise, Bella, Sam, Harry, Charles, Zara, Jasmine, Charlotte, Will G, Tilly, Abi, Alice and Florrie, who all achieved Mercia qualifying standards in at least one of their events — a fantastic achievement and a testament to their hard work and commitment.

A particular mention should go to Alice, who produced an outstanding long jump performance of 3 metres and 27 centimetres despite still being in Year 4 and competing against Year 6 pupils. This was an exceptionally impressive achievement and highlights her tremendous potential.

King’s St Alban’s

The U11 team have been working incredibly hard at athletics club, and it was fantastic to see that effort paying off, with some pupils trying events for the very first time.

A huge well done to the whole team: Nell, Romi, Thea, Hannah, Martha, Millie, Elodie, Elizabeth, Jack, Adam, Ben, Hugo, Max, Jacob and Dylan, who all represented the school brilliantly with excellent determination, teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the afternoon.

There were some fantastic individual performances across the event. Nell was outstanding in the 1200m, winning the race by a huge distance with a superb run. In the high jump, Romi jumped brilliantly to take 1st place, while Thea secured an excellent 3rd place finish. Hugo and Ben both impressed in the 150m, finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively, while Adam ran strongly to claim 3rd place in the 75m sprint.

In the field events, Hugo produced a fantastic long jump of 3.85m, showing great athletic ability. The event came to a fantastic finish in the boys’ 4x100m relay. Dylan, Ben, Max and Adam combined brilliantly to produce a fantastic run and secure 1st place in an exciting finish to the day.

The overall results saw both the girls’ and boys’ teams from KSA U11 take a well-deserved second place; congratulations to them all!
