A Fond Farewell to Dr Oliver
King’s Worcester bids a warm and grateful farewell to Dr Alison Oliver, departing Senior Deputy Head and English teacher, as she leaves the school to take up a new role teaching English at a school in Wokingham.
Dr Oliver’s time at King’s has been shaped by a lifelong love of reading, teaching and school community. A graduate of English and American Literature from the University of Warwick, she has consistently championed the importance of literature alongside STEM, inspiring pupils to see the power of words, ideas and imagination. In the classroom, she was renowned for her intellectual rigour, warmth and passion—particularly for poetry and the works of William Shakespeare, which she hopes will remain part of her legacy at King’s.
Over eight years as a member of the Foundation Leadership Team, and three as Senior Deputy Head, Dr Oliver played a pivotal role in the day-to-day leadership of the Senior School. Her contribution culminated in her appointment as Acting Head, a role in which she led the school with clarity, compassion and deep understanding, drawing on her MSc in Educational Leadership and Doctorate in Education.
Beyond academics, Dr Oliver embraced the rich co-curricular life of King’s, encouraging pupils and colleagues alike to throw themselves into the many opportunities the school offers. A generous mentor and thoughtful leader, she leaves a lasting impact through the relationships she has built and the curiosity she has fostered.
King’s Worcester thanks Dr Oliver for her outstanding service and wishes her every happiness and success in the next chapter of her career.
