A Level Results 2026: King’s Students Ready for the Future

King’s students are celebrating another year of outstanding A level success, with academic excellence complemented by exceptional achievements across a broad programme of enrichment designed to prepare young people for life beyond school.

This year’s Upper Sixth cohort completed 427 A levels alongside a range of additional qualifications that develop independent thinking, leadership and real-world skills. Among these was the nationally recognised Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which enjoyed one of its strongest years on record, with two thirds of our candidates achieving the top A* grade.

Excellent outcomes were achieved across a wide range of subjects, with particularly strong performances in Art, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Psychology, Religious Studies and Modern Languages. Reflecting the strength of King’s Sixth Form curriculum, students achieved an average of 143 UCAS tariff points, almost equivalent to three A grades at A level across the entire cohort. This outstanding achievement is testament to the ambition of our students and the dedication of our staff.

This springboard has enabled students to progress to a diverse range of exciting destinations. For many, university remains the pathway of choice, with students securing places at leading institutions including the Universities of Exeter, Bath and Bristol, while several will continue their academic journeys at Oxford and Cambridge.

However, alongside these traditional routes, King’s has seen a record number of students securing degree apprenticeships, reflecting a growing national trend and the increasing appeal of programmes that combine higher education with professional experience. Students will take up prestigious opportunities with organisations including Goldman Sachs, BakerHicks, St. James’s Place and KPMG, earning professional qualifications while gaining invaluable workplace experience.

Success has also extended across the school’s Sixth Form Electives programme, which enables students to gain additional nationally recognised qualifications and UCAS points through options including Core Maths, Sports Leadership, Gold Arts Award, Sign Language and Digital Skills. This year, 60% of Core Maths students achieved the top A grade.

Among those progressing to higher education are five students who will study Medicine, all of whom secured places at their first-choice university. The cohort will go on to study a wide range of disciplines including engineering, criminology, conservation biology, interior architecture, business management, musical theatre, psychology and professional policing.

Students Celebrate at Results Day Brunch

Heads of School, Dan A and Sonali P, were celebrating today after achieving 7 A*s and one A between them.

Dan will be reading Natural Sciences and is waiting to hear the results of the Cambridge Summer Pool but has an additional offer for Durham University. Sonali will study Medicine at the University of Liverpool.

King’s swimmers Ben, Aled and Harry are all celebrating excellent exam results, having also been key members of the King’s Swimming Academy.

Ben will study Aerospace Engineering at the University of Birmingham, Harry will study Natural Sciences at Loughborough, while Aled takes up a corporate tax apprenticeship at Ballards. Ben and Harry will also be part of their universities’ elite training programmes.

King’s has had a particularly strong year for students looking to study STEM subjects at university, with female students doing particularly well. Izzy R is looking forward to a gap year, Lexie D will be reading Psychology, Cerys M is heading to study Chemistry, Sam C will study Maths and Computer Science, Sophie J will study Chemistry, Eva L is heading to read medicine and Lauren is looking forward to studying Zoology.

Many students will be going to leading Russell Group universities, with the University of Exeter, Bath, Bristol, Durham and Birmingham amongst the most popular. Alfie B will be reading Industrial Design at Loughborough, Oliver R will study Business with Industrial Experience, Bentley L is heading to Durham University to study Physics and Tom P will be reading Chemistry at Loughborough.
