King’s Supports Local Cricket Community Kit Exchange

Local insurance broker Howden Worcester is batting for budding young cricketers with a community cricket kit exchange, to recycle and reuse equipment and help children in the area keep active through sport.

The insurance company, who are the official insurance broker partner to the England and Wales Cricket Board, have become a focal point for the local community by providing the opportunity to donate, exchange or pick up second-hand cricket kit, helping even more children to play the sport, keep active, and develop new skills.

King’s Worcester was among the first partners to donate, providing second-hand cricket equipment for the exchange. With our “Sport for All” ethos and culture and a long tradition of success in cricket, the Howden Worcester Team grateful for our support in developing the exchange scheme.

Jonathan Fletcher, Insurance Consultant at Howden Worcester, started the sustainable scheme, based on his own experience with his young son.

He explained, “Sport is more than just a game; it’s a catalyst for growth, teaching valuable lessons in confidence, teamwork, and even maths. But we understand that cost can be a barrier. We’re on a mission to make cricket accessible to all, regardless of their background. We believe every child should have the chance to play, learn, and maybe even become the next cricket superstar!”

Howden Worcester are encouraging donations of all cricket kit, including bats, balls, pads, stumps, bails, and more. Anyone wishing to collect such items is welcome to come into branch to select what they need, completely free of charge.

James Parker, Branch Manager at Howden Worcester, added, “It can be a struggle to keep up with kids’ needs, as they quickly grow out of kit such as gloves, sports shoes and so on, and having to buy new each time soon adds up.

“Many of us have useful items collecting dust, whether our children have outgrown them or moved on. With our exchange set up, your equipment can have a new life with a child who dreams of playing. Let’s build a community where every child has the chance to shine on the cricket pitch.”

If you would like to collect, exchange, or donate, pop into the Howden Worcester Branch located at 2 Foregate Street, or ring 01905 612961.
