King’s announces official sporting partnership with Worcestershire County Cricket Club
King’s Worcester is pleased to announce an extension of our long-standing partnership with Worcestershire County Cricket Club (Worcestershire CCC) as an official partner. The partnership reaffirms a shared commitment to cricket, youth development, and community engagement across the county.
A Partnership To Grow Talent
Driven by a shared passion for sport and education, the partnership represents an important investment in the future of the game for our pupils. Members of the Worcestershire CCC coaching team will join with the King’s cricket programme to provide specialist coaching for pupils throughout the year groups, and Continual Professional Development for King’s cricketing staff. Player appearances will also seek to input into coaching sessions and offer essential inspiration for pupils.
Supporting The Local Community
Alongside this our superb facilities will support in providing access to development programmes, cricket festivals and high-quality coaching initiatives for the wider Worcester community. For young cricketers, whether just starting out or already competing at a high level, this offers both inspiration and tangible pathways to progress.
Leading The Way in Cricket Development
King’s Worcester is regarded as one of the leading cricketing schools in the country, with a proud history of nurturing talent. Current pupils Seth Essenhigh, Henry Hawes, Bryony Gillgrass and Phoebe Brett are all part of the Worcestershire County player pathway at New Road, with recent alumni including England international Josh Tongue.
This partnership follows King’s recent recognition in the prestigious Cricketer Schools Guide 2026 as one of the UK’s Top 100 cricketing senior schools, and the only school in Worcester to be named in the top 2% of the UK’s sporting schools by School Sport Magazine.
As part of the new agreement, King’s Worcester is also proud to sponsor current pupils and Worcestershire Women’s Rapids and England U19 players Bryony Gillgrass and Phoebe Brett for the 2026 season, further strengthening its support for the women’s game and emerging talent.
Jonny Mason, Foundation Director of Sport at King’s Worcester, commented:
“We are delighted to announce that we have expanded our sports partnership with Worcestershire County Cricket Club. King’s has a strong cricketing tradition, from producing England internationals to leading the way in both boys’ and girls’ cricket, and we are proud to sit alongside some of the foremost cricketing schools in the UK.
By extending our partnership with Worcestershire CCC, we will not only provide additional cricketing opportunities and inspiration for our pupils but also support in widening access to sports provision for those in Worcestershire and beyond.”
A Shared Vision
Worcestershire County Cricket Club’s Chief Revenue Officer, Joe Tromans, highlighted the Club’s desire to extend the well-established partnership.
“We are thrilled to be extending our relationship with King’s Worcester at what is a very exciting time for both the school, and everybody involved here at Worcestershire.
“Successful partnerships are defined by a mutual desire to achieve and succeed together, and with our visions, values and principles aligning so cohesively with King’s, this is a partnership we feel runs into the heart of our county.
A Cricketing Partnership in The Heart of Worcestershire
This enhanced partnership marks an exciting new chapter, reinforcing both organisations’ commitment to developing the next generation of cricketers and ensuring the game continues to thrive within the local community.
Building on a multi-year relationship, this sporting partnership reflects King’s Worcester’s established reputation for excellence in both sport and education, and its continued dedication to providing outstanding opportunities for pupils and the wider community.
