Cathedral is Forum for A-level Drama
This week, three of our Lower Sixth A-level Drama students created a piece of Forum Theatre as part of a conference being held by Worcester Cathedral.
Hannah B, James L, and Tallulah R worked together with Joanne Wilson from Worcester Cathedral’s Education Department to create a short piece that explored the risks posed by County Lines and the potential for vulnerable young people to be exploited. They then performed this piece later in the week to a group of those attending the conference. Forum Theatre works to turn its audience into “spect-actors”.
After watching the piece through once, the audience is invited to watch it again and stop it at any moment, offering the vulnerable protagonist with alternative lines and actions to try to change the outcome. Our three students utilised improvisation techniques to respond quickly to the audience’s input, resulting in a thought-provoking, interactive experience. This was a great opportunity for the students to develop their theatrical skills and learn how performance can be used to educate.
This is a part of our continuing partnership work with the Cathedral, and we look forward to the work to come.
