King’s Hawford Equestrian Team Compete at NSEA Event

The King’s Hawford Equestrian team is growing in strength and breadth. Hot on the heels of Bella W (Yr 3), who joined the team at our last outing on 15th September, we had three fantastic new riders representing King’s Hawford on Sunday 6th October: Georgina N (Yr 3), India L (Yr 1) and Claudia O’M (Yr 1).

As a result, Kings Hawford competed in 16 rounds of show jumping, which is brilliant!

We travelled to a new NSEA venue, The Unicorn Equestrian Centre at Stow-on-the Wold.  Some of the classes were big in terms of the number of entrants, and the courses had plenty of challenges with spooky planks and fillers to un-nerve the riders and upset the ponies.

Against this backdrop, we had a rollercoaster day of wonderful highs and testing lows. Hawford’s have-a-go attitude was once again on display for all to see, as was the girl’s resilience and team spirit.

40cm – Judged on Style. Team 4th, Individual 3rd and Qualification for the NSEA Grassroots Championship at Hickstead!

With our 3 NSEA debutants, we had 6 riders competing at 40cm: Georgina N and Maysie L both competed as individuals, and Annie W, India L, Claudia O’M and Bella W competed as a team.

The Team did Hawford proud. They rode brilliantly and came 4th, qualifying for the NSEA Grassroots National Championship at Hickstead in August 2025! India and Claudia both produced lovely clear rounds. India came 3rd individual out of 28 entrants and qualified for Hickstead as an individual as well as with the team. A fabulous start for our new members!

Georgina had a wonderful round for her debut NSEA competition. She (and her Mum) smiled all the way round and jumped beautifully with an unlucky pole down on the last fence.

50cm – Optimum Time

This was one of the biggest classes of the day with 44 entries. Annie rode as an individual and Adelyn, Maysie, Rosie and Bella rode as the team.

Adelyn had a super clear round, Rosie and Bella both had one refusal.

60cm – Speed Class. Team 3rd – Qualified for Hickstead.

Another big class with 45 entries. This is a still a new height for the Team to compete at and the course had lots of spreads to challenge the riders and their ponies. The team consisted of Adelyn, Annie, Bella and Rosie. Adelyn, Annie and Bella produced beautiful speedy clear rounds and the Team came 3rd, qualifying for Hickstead for the second time in this new academic year! A fantastic result.
