Lower Sixth Golfers raise over £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support

Four King’s golfers recently raised over £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in Worcestershire on Saturday 24th June. The team of  Lower Sixth students took on the Longest Day Golf Challenge at Ombersley Golf Club to raise vital money for people with cancer.

The team ‘Whole in One’, made up of Lower Sixth Students Todd P, Ollie P, Alex D and George S, took part in the fundraiser as Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity particularly close to their hearts as they are all part of families who have been affected by cancer. The team, who had been raising money internally at school, aspired to raise as much money as possible for this amazing cause which provides essential physical, financial and emotional support for people living with cancer. They took on 72 holes in one day, starting their first round at sunrise, completing the final round at 9:50pm, covering over 20 miles all whilst carrying their own golf bags and in intense heat.

Speaking after the event, ‘Whole In One’ Team captain, Todd said, “I am amazed by the support shown by all my peers. Never did any of us expect this amount of support, and I hope that our efforts have gone a long way. This event was amazing and I am so proud of our team and the massive amount of money we have raised for this amazing cause.”

The team has raised an incredible £5,600 so far for Macmillan Cancer Support. If you’d like to donate to support Whole In One please visit https://longestdaygolf.macmillan.org.uk/Team/wholeinone or search for them on the Longest Day Golf Challenge website.
