King’s Teams Flying Through National Competitions

As we approach the end of September in this bright, sharp, autumnal weather, we are delighted that all three of our Autumn Term First Teams have won their second-round games in respective National Competitions.

1st XI Hockey

The 1st team played their first cup game of the season against Ellesmere College and were delighted to run out in their new shirts, sponsored by Make More Noise.

This year’s team has seen a big influx of Fifth Form pupils, and so it was exciting to see how they would play together.

The team could not have got off to a better start with 2 early goals settling any nerves. They controlled the ball throughout the game, scored 7 goals and played to principles throughout. Well done to all the team.

1st XV Rugby

Last week, our XV Rugby Team took part in the National Schools Rugby Competition in the Vace Tier. Round Two this week saw the team take on King Edwards VI School from Stratford. The game was a physically tough game; however, the boys dug deep and took a 10-0 lead in the first half. KES returned after half time with renewed energy and put pressure on our game. The final result was 10-9 to King’s and a pass through to the next round this week.

This is a young development squad with both Fifth Formers and Lower Sixth pupils in it; it was good to see them come together with skill and determination. The boys look forward to the next round this week.

The 1st XV rugby shirts are sponsored by Elgars Kitchens.

U19 1st Netball

On Tuesday, the 1st Netball team progressed comfortably to the next round of the National Cup with a 51-35 victory over Bradfield College.

The girls played some wonderful netball and looked very smart in their new netball dresses, sponsored by Eva Capital.
