Spring Sport Brings Prep Pupils Together

Last week, our Year Five pupils from both Prep Schools took part in a Sports Transition Afternoon hosted at King’s Hawford. The afternoon formed part of a series of events held throughout the Prep School years to ensure that our pupils enjoy a seamless transition when they make the move to “Big King’s” at the end of Year Six.
The focus of this term’s event was on netball for the girls and football for the boys. The boys made their way to the football pitches outside The Barn, whilst the girls gathered on the netball courts in the centre of the School. It was wonderful to welcome Games staff from King’s Worcester Senior School for the afternoon: Foundation Director of Sport, Mr Mason, and Director of Sport at King’s Worcester, Mrs Miller-Symonds, were both on hand to oversee the activities. The event provided Mr Mason and Mrs Miller-Symonds with an excellent insight into the budding talent that is currently being nurtured at each Prep School.
The children started with sport-specific warm-ups before launching into some skill-based drills. Throughout the afternoon it was wonderful to see pupils from both of the Prep Schools interacting with one another and building friendships across the Foundation. The afternoon finished with a series of matches, where pupils were able to put into practice some of the skills on which they had been working.
In addition to the Senior School Games staff, members of the Senior Netball and Football squads were also in attendance, many of whom had once been pupils at either King’s St Alban’s or King’s Hawford and were delighted to be able to share their experience and wisdom.
