U15 Rugby Team Through To National Schools Plate Final

The U15s have had a fantastic season which has resulted in reaching the England Rugby National Plate final which will be played at Saracens’ home ground, StoneX Stadium in North London.

The England Rugby National Schools competition is the premier and largest schools rugby tournament in the country, where over 450 school teams compete regionally and then nationally for the chance to play at an international stadium to clinch the coveted title. Last year’s final had over 35,000 live streams.

Despite the competition not starting as the players would have liked with a narrow defeat to Bromsgrove School in the first round of the cup, they quickly regrouped and put that behind them, setting themselves a new goal of winning the Plate competition.

On the journey to the final, there have been some exceptional performances with over 130 points being scored and only conceding 3 tries across the five games. The Quarter finals were away to Cheadle Hulme School, Stockport, where the team had a nervous performance, but managed to grind out the win to advance. A rusty performance was soon put to bed with a very polished display in the semi-finals against an impressive Norwich School side.

The U15s will now be playing in the final against Abingdon School on March 14th.

Director of Rugby Mr Williams said,This group have been an absolute pleasure to coach and be apart of this year. Whatever challenges or reactions I have asked of this group, they have responded to and wanted more! I am extremely proud of what they have achieved this year but also extremely excited to see what this group can do in the future both as a team and individually. I cannot wait for the final, for the U15s to showcase some of the brilliant rugby they are capable of. It will be a special moment for the boys to run out altogether on Tuesday at StoneX Stadium and I know they will do themselves proud.”

Mr Greenall U15s Assistant Director of Rugby,I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the U15 forwards throughout the season. Their effort and determination to better themselves and improve, has been brilliant to see and this work ethic has been rewarded with an exciting opportunity to play at StoneX Stadium in the final.”
