Success for Foundation Swimmers at Malvern Aquathlon
Teams from King’s Hawford, King’s St Alban’s and King’s Worcester travelled to Malvern College last Saturday to compete in the demanding The Downs Malvern’s annual Aquathlon.
The competition consisted of a 100m pool swim followed by an 800m run and attracted strong calibre of athletes from schools across Worcestershire and beyond.
Our Foundation schools fielded strong teams in both the U11 and U13 categories. All the children produced outstanding performances throughout the event, demonstrating superb determination, resilience and effort.
It was a wonderful opportunity for our prep school pupils and staff to share the experience with several former Hawford and King’s St Alban’s children who were competing for the senior school in the U13 category. The children gave each other support and encouragement throughout the day, highlighting the strong friendships and connection between the schools.
A sincere thank you also goes to all the King’s Foundation parents and relatives who came to the event. Your encouragement and positive feedback are always greatly appreciated.
A huge thank you to The Downs for such a fantastic event and to Malvern College for hosting.
King’s Worcester
Having won both the boys’ and girls’ U13 categories last year – as well as the overall combined team trophy – our senior school swimmers returned with high expectations and a largely unchanged squad eager to defend their titles.
The girls’ team consisted of Fliss T, Helena C, Shreya V, Thea E with Pippa P also joining the team this year, while the boys’ team featured returning champions Harry C, Jonas H, Sam M and Teddy C, joined this year by Thomas E as well.
The pupils produced outstanding performances throughout both disciplines, with every pupil swimming strongly and exiting the pool in first position within their respective heats.
The pupils’ excellent fitness levels and determination then translated into equally impressive performances on the run section of the race. Helena C delivered a particularly remarkable performance, breaking the course record that she herself had set the previous year and finishing more than 20 seconds ahead of the next competitor.
King’s Worcester achieved an impressive clean sweep of the U13 competition:
- Helena C won the girls’ individual title
- Harry C won the boys’ individual title
- Pippa P finished 3rd overall in the girls’ event
- Sam M finished 3rd overall in the boys’ event
- King’s Worcester won the overall U13 team competition for the third consecutive year
