King’s Foundation Celebrates Biathlon Success

Pupils from across the King’s Foundation of schools took part in the Evesham Biathlon on Sunday, enjoying a highly successful day of running and swimming, with some outstanding performances across the different age groups.

The Evesham Biathlon consists of a 1km or 2km run, followed by a 100m or 200m pool swim, with the distances determined by the competitor’s age. Although this was not an event that King’s entered as a school, it provided an excellent opportunity for pupils to gain valuable experience of competing in a multi-sport event.

The run took place at Evesham Velo Park, before competitors made their way to Evesham Leisure Centre for the swimming element of the competition. King’s was represented by Thea E, Helena C and James C, while pupils from the Foundation’s two prep schools also competed in their respective age groups, with Geoffrey W and Albert W representing King’s St. Alban’s and Tilly C representing King’s Hawford.

There was even representation from the KSA parents, with Albert and Geoffrey’s parents, Felicity and Sam, taking part in the team event and making it a true King’s Foundation affair!

It proved to be a hugely successful day for the King’s pupils. Thea E won the 11–12-year-old girls’ category, while Helena C was victorious in the 13–14-year-old girls’ category. James C also produced an excellent performance to win the 16-and-over male category, with all three pupils recording impressive times in both the running and swimming elements of the competition.

Evesham Biathlon

There was an extra special achievement for James, as once all the results had been compiled and the aggregated scores for each age band had been calculated, his outstanding run time ensured that he was also crowned the overall winner of the Evesham Biathlon. This was a fantastic achievement and a wonderful reward for an excellent all-round performance.

There was further success for the King’s prep school pupils, with Geoffrey W winning the 8-year-old boys’ category and Albert W taking first place in the 9–10-year-old boys’ category.

It was fantastic to see the King’s Foundation so well represented, with pupils and parents from across all three schools enjoying the opportunity to compete together. With multi-sport events providing such valuable opportunities for our pupils to develop their running and swimming skills, as well as their experience of competitive racing, it was particularly pleasing to see so many outstanding performances.

Well done to all the King’s Foundation pupils – and parents – who took part!
