A New OV Addition for the Archives

We’re very pleased to share the news that OV Isobel Cree (Cr 17-19) has returned to King’s to join the Alumni Team temporarily, with a sole focus on the wonderful King’s School Worcester Archives.

Isobel explains further:

“I have come back to King’s to volunteer in the Archive. The King’s School Worcester Archive is full of records relating to all aspects of the School’s history, from its cathedral links and foundation by Henry VIII to the most recent student publications and photographs. This makes it significant, not only for understanding the history of the School, but the history of Worcester too.

“After leaving King’s, I studied French and Spanish at Merton College, Oxford, where I spent lots of time poring over medieval texts (by choice!), before deciding that I wanted to care for historical records as a career. After training in the archives of Magdalen and Mansfield Colleges, I’ve come to King’s to promote the archives as a useful resource for alumni engagement and fundraising. Next year, I hope to study for an MA Archives and Records Management to learn more theory about records preservation.

Why is the Archive important?

“Archives are not only there to keep things neatly stored in boxes! We’re using the King’s School Archive to show how the history of the School reflects its current values and mission. The School records show us how King’s has promoted scholarships, music, sport, and social engagement for centuries.

“Over the coming months, I’ll be highlighting different treasures from the King’s Archive in posts, which can be found on the Archive Section of the King’s website, the OV e-newsletter, and social media. Watch out for mentions of your old clubs or activities or even photos from your time at King’s!”
