An Exeter Uni OV Gathering
At the end of November, OVs studying at the University of Exeter enjoyed a reunion at one of the city’s favourite pubs, The Ship Inn. The relaxed atmosphere provided the perfect backdrop for reconnecting and sharing university experiences, with the first drink courtesy of King’s!
The meet-up was led by OV Charles Pillman (W 15-22), who has been actively building connections among OVs studying at Exeter in his role as the first-ever OV Uni Rep. This initiative forms part of a wider effort to strengthen the OV community at universities across the UK, with Charles volunteering to pilot the scheme in Exeter before it expands to other universities popular with OVs.
Speaking about the evening, Charles said, “It was a roaring success! A good group of OVs took over The Ship Inn for what was a lovely evening. Some of us really keen ones even carried on the party at a different pub!”
The OVs that joined Charles included (in no particular order): Ben Bartlett (Cr 15-22 and Old Hawfordian), Monty Jelfs (Os 17-24 and Old St Alban’s), Jamie Thorp (Br 17-24 and Old Hawfordian), Stella Taylor (W 15-22 and Old St Alban’s), Fliss Quiney (Br 15-22), Jack Barclay (S 15-22 and Old St Alban’s), Annie White (Ch 21-23), Purdy Newson-Tonks (Br 16-23 and Old St Alban’s), Henry White (Os 16-23 and Old St Alban’s), James Raybould (W 22-24), Ellie Nosworthy (Cl 17-24), Jasmine Sayani (S 22-24 and Old Hawfordian), Dixie Stone (K 20-22), and Maddie Worth (Br 17-24 and Old St Alban’s).
Charles has also set up a dedicated WhatsApp group for Exeter-based OVs, making it easier for members to stay informed about future meet-ups and opportunities to network. While every effort has been made to contact all OVs currently studying at Exeter, if you have not yet heard from the Alumni Office, or are not already part of Charles’s WhatsApp group, please get in touch!
Following the success Charles is having keeping OVs connected and supported at Exeter, the Alumni Office is keen to roll the ‘Uni Rep Scheme’ wider for the 2026-27 academic year. So, if you will be going into your second or third year at Nottingham or Birmingham and would like to be the OV representative at your university, please contact Hannah or Amanda in the Alumni Office. As the OV Uni Rep, you will be a point of contact for support and friendship to other OVs at your university, organising events locally, with a particular focus on helping younger OVs transition into university life.
