Danke Sehr to OV Andrew

Our many thanks to OV Andrew Jameson (Cr 51-58) who returned to King’s recently to donate a book he had purchased for the School: Der schnellste Jude Deutschlands. Alex Natan (1906-1971) Eine Biografie, by Kay Schiller.

It is a biography of Alex “Boff” Natan, who taught History at King’s from 1943-1967 and was also Head of the History department. Natan was a German Jew who left Germany when Hitler came into power in the 1930s, prior to which he had been an elite athlete who set a world record in the 4x100metres relay with a time of 40.8 seconds. This is duly recognised by the biographer as the book’s title translates to ‘Germany’s Fastest Jew’, with thanks to Andrew for the translation.

OV Andrew Jameson with Annabel Jeffery and the book he donated

King’s Librarian Annabel Jeffery (Hon OV) was delighted to welcome Andrew to the Matthew Armstrong Library and receive the biography into the School’s catalogue, as was Head of Modern Languages, Richard Ball (Hon OV), who was very keen to be the first to read it!
