Fantastic Five Year Reunion

On Saturday 5 October it was wonderful to welcome so many of the Year of 2019, and their parents, back to King’s for their Five Year Reunion.

The Mulberry Marquee was buzzing as the Year of 2019 cohort retraced their steps back to School, with a mixture of anticipation, excitement and some apprehension – one OV even said they were feeling worried they’d forgotten their homework!

The OVs were joined for drinks and canapés by some of their former teachers, including Hon OVs Katie Beever, Simon Cuthbertson, Gilly, Chris Haywood, Dr Richard James, Stephan and Sarah Le Marchand, Andrew Maund, Claire Neville, Dr Mark Poole, and Chris Wilson, all happily reminiscing about their schooldays and what they have achieved in the five years since leaving.

Acting Head, Dr Alison Oliver (Hon OV), welcomed the former pupils and their parents/guardians back to King’s, namechecking some of the familiar faces in the room, before handing over to OV and former Head of School, Sam Martyn-Smith (Cl 12-19 and Old Hawfordian).

Sam added his welcome to Dr Oliver’s, saying a few words to his fellow OVs recognising the achievements made over the past five years, reminiscing about their time at King’s, raising some cheers and laughter, and taking time to remember absent friends and staff.

As the Reunion came to an end the evening did not, as the OVs and Hon OVs carried the reuniting on into Worcester, with the aim of at least starting, if not necessarily completing, the Nine Dots!
