Finance Careers Talk Inspires Pupils

On 9 December, 40 pupils from the Fifth and Sixth Forms attended an engaging Finance Careers Talk held during ‘long break’, designed to shed light on the diverse career paths within the financial services industry. The session offered a unique opportunity to hear first-hand from professionals representing three key areas of the sector: accountancy, commercial banking, and investment banking.

The expert panel included:

  • OV Jonathan Hunt (Os 10-17) – Semi-Senior Accountant at Ormerod Rutter Chartered Accountants
  • Mark Smith – Commercial Banking Relationship Director at Lloyds Banking Group
  • Jessica Fox – Relationship Manager, SME Banking at Lloyds Banking Group
  • King’s parent Paul Smith – Managing Director at Goldman Sachs (Investment Banking)

Throughout the event, pupils gained valuable insights into what these roles involve, the skills employers value most, and the exciting opportunities available in these fast-paced fields. Topics ranged from the growing influence of artificial intelligence in finance, to practical advice on how to stand out in a competitive job market, and creative ideas for securing work experience.
