Inspirational Gap Year Speakers

Current Lower Sixth students hugely benefitted from meeting and hearing from three OVs this week. Zach English (Cr 18-24), Charlie Kenny (Ca 11-18 and Old St Alban’s) and Harry Flockhart (Ca 13-20 and Old St Alban’s) joined the L6 in the John Moore Theatre to provide some insight, and inspiration, into Gap Years.

Hosted by King’s Careers Lead, Claire Gent, each of the OVs had different experiences to share with the L6, from working, to travelling, to working while travelling, providing personal perspectives on the pros and cons of taking the time out from education or work.

The assembled L6 also heard from OV and former Head of School, Olivia Howard (Cl 14-21 and Old Hawfordian), who had previously prepared a video presentation.

Together, the OVs gave the L6 plenty of food for thought!

Following the presentations, Charlie, Harry and Zach had lunch with some L6 who have already decided to take a Gap Year. It was a great opportunity for those students to really pick the OVs’ brains!
