Everyone felt as if Christmas had truly arrived last night on the 12th December, as we enjoyed the King’s School Worcester Carol Service. As always, we were joined by many OVs and supportive members of the King’s family for this annual event which is always a firm favourite in the school calendar. Last night was no exception as we enjoyed sublime music, including a touching tribute to late OV Sir Stephen Cleobury (Ch 58-67) with the School Choir singing Stephen’s arrangement of ‘Joys Seven’. Other musical highlights included ‘Carol of the Bells’, the choristers singing ‘Angels’ Carol’ and the Lower Years Choir singing ‘A Child is Born in Bethlehem’.
There were also wonderful readings, handled magnificently by our Monitors, Heads of School and Scholars. There were plenty of opportunities for the congregation to join in too and we finished with a resounding ‘Oh Come All Ye Faithful’ before heading to school Dining Hall for mulled fruit punch and mince pies. It was a pleasure to be able to catch up with so many OVs on the evening, including OVs who left King’s in 1951 all the way through to the most recent 2019 leavers back from their University holidays.
