King’s host the Junior Schools Challenge

After a year’s break due to COVID, we were delighted to host the first round of the Junior Schools Challenge at King’s on Tuesday evening.

King’s fielded two teams consisting of members of the Upper Fourth for this competitive event, with high hopes of progressing through to the next round. This is the only inter-school competition for the year, meaning the teams have been practising and building up for this important event throughout the year.

Our A team consisting of Harry C (Captain), Vinayak C, Ethan T and Noah A faced The Chase A team in the first nail-biting round.

After questions on such topics as astronauts, the names of the seven dwarfs and Christmas songs from the 1970’s, they marginally missed out on victory.

Meanwhile, our B team fielded of George P (Captain), Oscar A, George F, Arthur D and William P put up a tremendous fight against King Edward’s, Stratford and The Chase B team, and were victorious.

This meant that the hotly contested final was fought between King’s B and The Chase A, with difficult subjects such as Old Testament Kings, Scrabble pieces and orchestral instruments.

Unfortunately for us, we were unable to match the extensive knowledge of The Chase A, who won by 630 to 260 points. However, it was a very exciting and enjoyable evening of quizzing for all.

Mrs Drew adds “I was very proud of the boys’ positive attitude, perseverance and amazing general knowledge in the competition.”

Junior Quiz Club meets on Wednesdays in long break and is open to all in Lower Fourth or Upper Fourth. Do pop along if you’re interested to find out more; they would love to welcome new members to the club.
