New Year Networking

On Wednesday 11 January 2023, King’s hosted an excellent Network 1541 meeting, which saw BBC Apprentice winner Mark Wright give his ‘Backpacker to Boardroom’ talk. It was a great turnout from across the King’s family and Worcester’s business community, covering a wide range of sectors. In particular, we would like to thank King’s parent Hannah Haffield, and Mark Wright, whose PR agency Make More Noise sponsored the event.

Mark’s talk covered some of the key lessons that he has learned while building his business from the ground up, including successes, challenges, and its recent sale. He also shared some of the experiences he gained during his time on the BBC’s The Apprentice and in becoming Lord Sugar’s business partner.

Everyone who attended was impressed by Mark’s energy and enthusiasm, as well as his incredible success to date, which at the relatively tender age of 33 is an even greater achievement. One of the guests, Ronald Gijsel from Automattic, commented, “It was a great event, truly delightful. Both the speaker and the networking were very valuable.”

Hannah Sparrey, King’s Head of Alumni and Business Development, added, “The evening was a great success and provided a great deal of business inspiration and networking opportunities for those who attended. We are planning a series of Network 1541 events and would welcome any suggestions for future speakers. Likewise, we would love to hear from any local businesses who would like to sponsor an event.”
