OV and racing legend Derek Bell MBE (S 56-58) drove the No. 14 Porsche 962 HR1 to a fantastic victory in the Daytona Classic Run Group class race last weekend. Derek’s success came 30 years after his last overall win in the 24 Hours of Daytona which was also in a Porsche 962 back in 1989. Alongside Derek his winning co-drivers included his son Justin Bell as well as Rodrigo Sales and Gunnar Jeannette.
It was a 24 hour race split into segments for 4 classes of cars, so they drove every 6 hours for one hour totalling 4 hours.
Derek and Justin have raced together twice at Le Mans, coming close to victory in 1995, so it was an incredibly special win for father and son.
