OV Becky Returns for Higgins Lecture

For this year’s Higgins Lecture, we welcomed back OV Becky Ye (S 16-23) speaking on “Do we have moral duties to ourselves?”.

Becky added, “It was really nice to revisit School to see how things are going and talk to my old teachers. It was also very encouraging to see that the Higgins talks are going strong (I think I was in U6 when Higgins Society was first set up).

“My lecture was based on a 15,000 word dissertation I wrote for my undergrad course. This was in turn inspired by conversations I had with friends in first year about the nature of morality.”

Becky is finishing her degree in Philosophy and Theology at Oxford (Keble College) this year. She then plans to spend next year in China before starting a law course in Birmingham in 2027.

The Higgins Lecture is a highlight of The Higgins Society’s calendar. It is the Sixth Form Academic Society at King’s, named after OV Alexander Higgins (1865-1935), Professor of International Law at the University of Cambridge, President of the Institut de Droit International, and a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
