OV Fundraising for Mental Health
Our mental health is incredibly important, and there are many OVs providing help, advice and support for those in need. This includes OV Olivia Meredith (Os 10-17), who got in touch to share what she is doing.
Olivia explains, “I set up an Instagram page last year, @letsgettalking2022, which aims to raise awareness of mental health issues and the charities that are out there to help when times are tough. I set this up to help others after a friend from university took his own life; no one was expecting it and it really did show that you truly do never know what is going on in someone else’s life.
“The key message of my page is ‘let’s get talking’, as it really is okay not to be okay, so don’t suffer in silence; reach out and speak to a friend, family member or professional.
“I think it’s so important that we all work together to break the stigma surrounding mental health and, most importantly, encourage everyone to get talking.”
As part of this, from 12 to 16 April this year Olivia and a friend will be tackling the Cotswold Way. The route is 102 miles, from Bath Abbey to Chipping Campden, and they are walking to raise funds in aid of the Farming Community Network, which offers both pastoral and practical support for the rural community.
