OV Golf Day 2024

Many thanks indeed to OV James Bailey (Cr 84-93) who once again organised a fantastic OV Golf Day. James kindly sent an overview of a day enjoyed by all:

“Ultimately it was a great OV day at Ombersley Golf Club on 8th November, with the golf course and weather very good for the time of year.

“Due to some last-minute fallouts, the final turnout was fewer than expected but a great group turned up for some catching-up and fun. Proceedings started with breakfast before first tee off at 10:30am.

“Three groups went off:

“In my group, I was joined by OVs Colin Cole (H 67-77 and Old St Alban’s), Andrew Rankin (H 95-97), and Nic Sproson (H 71-76) – seen here, from right to left, on tee off.

“We were joined by Paul Judge (W 83-93), Tom Guest (S 90-97), Nick Firth (Ch 86-93), George Blakeway (H 76-86 and Old St Alban’s), Tim Whitehouse (K 86-94), and Russ Mason (Hon OV), who were grouped in two three balls.

“With the usual banter, results were digested in the bar after. Until the last hole, Tom Guest was looking the likely winner of the day. However, due to what can only be explained as a total bonk on the last hole, the outright winner was Nick Firth.

“Paul Judge had forgotten the official trophy, but handed over the winner’s mantle with a smile to Nick. Andrew Rankin cleaned up on the nearest to the pin and also longest drive!

“We’re planning for repeat in 2025, possibly earlier in the year, and hopefully greater OV numbers! Ideally four balls from different year groups!”
